Just spreading the news... If there are any fast DSMs here, be sure and enter Street Class Quick 8 - $600 to first, $200 to second. :)

If I put a fake fart can on the back of my car, then will you let me run?

what are the rules about exhaust? it said something like no mufflers are allowed where does the exhaust have to run to...

Fast as in fast enough to qualify for Street, but that depends on how many and who will show up to race in the Street Class. If Ohio is like other events we've hosted, it will take around high 12s/low 13s and better to qualify with the winner running in the 11s. That's just a rough estimate though. There have been events where the winners ran low 10s, and there have been events where the winners were only running mid 13s. Either way, 1st place pays $600, 2nd $200.

As for rules on exhaust in Street class, from the IFO site...

"EXHAUST
Must run at least one muffler with exhaust system that exits behind or within 12 inches from the rear wheels."

So this would disqualify anyone using a "dump" on their turbo??

No, read the rules again. The key words are AT LEAST.

considering slowmotion is going to be there its going to take atleast a mid to low 11 to win fwd class...

Rules:

MOTOR:

"Motor swaps allowed as long as they stay within the same manufacturer. "

So, if you have a 2GNT with a 420a motor, you cannot swap in a 4G63??? Isn't a 420a motor a MOPAR motor, so you could swap in a Dodge Viper motor???

So, as long as you have an exhaust system where the tail pipe comes out the back, nevermind if it isn't actually connected to the engine???

The rule is kind of ambiguous.

A "dump" on a turbo will blow out exhaust at or near the engine compartment in effect bypassing any installed exhaust system but not necessarily bypassing 100% of the time.

ENGINE
4 or 6 cylinder, 2 or 3 rotor engines allowed. Engine must be of automotive import origin. No air-cooled engines allowed. Engine block must be of the same make as vehicle competing. Motor swaps allowed as long as they stay within the same manufacturer.

V8s, V10s, ect. are prohibited.

So then the 2GNT cars are not allowed to race since they have MOPAR motors in them. And since they can only swap with other MOPAR motors, they wouldn't even be allowed to install a Mitsubishi 4G63 engine. I guess the 2GNT's are completely locked out of the Street Class.

The other rules for the Quick 8:

ENGINE
Only OEM 4-cylinder motor entries allowed. Engine must be of automotive import origin and/or offered as OE in compact cars sold in North America. No air-cooled or rotary engines allowed. Engine block must be of the same make as vehicle competing. Motor swaps allowed as long as they stay within the same manufacturer.

The sentence "Engine block must be of the same make as vehicle competing." disqualifies the 2GNT's. They are Mitsubishi cars with MOPAR engines in them.

The sentence: "Motor swaps allowed as long as they stay within the same manufacturer." is a little ambiguous. Are we talking same engine builder or same car builder?

Mike you have to much time on your hands. A grand national motor in my 2gnt would be a freakin swap. The motor that came in my car from the factory is not a swap. We understand the ambiguity of the rules but cut the dude some slack. He is inviting us to participate in his event so lets say thanks and move on.

yeah thats Johns Neon...he went to Marion with us a month or so ago when we rented it out, ran 11's and spun almost the whole way down the track but then his brake fluid boiled and caught his car on fire.....i heard the other day that he blew the neon up friday, got a new motor and rebuilt it yesterday just in time for the Dayton track day.....very impressive numbers from a neon, esp when it does not have a srt-4 swap!!

another rumor i heard, Coreys hatch is gonna be a beast when its all said and done, 500 whp and sprayed....correct me if im wrong

Sounds like the same car we saw in St Louis except that it now got a paint job. I never saw it go 140 though? Who knows.

According to the Nopi website, the fastest pass it made in qualifying or eliminations was 10.61 @ 136. Sportsmen are allowed to make test and tune passes in between rounds so its possible it went that fast but I didn't see it.
