that's nothing.......
clarion used to have a 32" spk about 6 years ago....and i know MTX @ 1 point made a 6 foot speaker and had it in a bread van they said it couldn't be blown up...@ the world finals showing it off they blew it up in 15 seconds (this was probably about 5-6 years ago as well)
here is a old picture of the clarion sub

I have been hearing about this JackHammer for awhile now as I am an MTX fan. I would have to agree though that the Clarion 32" years ago was a site to see.
I want to see the amps that power this new JackHammer though...

personaly to me anything above a 12" sucks. they need to much air space and by the time the bass wave forms it's well outside of the car. w/ the music i listen to 15" and higher are way to sloppy. in most cases u can fit (2) 12's in the same space as (1) 15" and the (2) 12's will sound better and be louder.
the real big subs (18" and higher) are cool to see but thats about it...
when we sold the clarion 32" sub it took about the same air space as 12 12's and was no-where near as clean sounding or loud...but looked scarry :D

looks like it has built in amp. not sure though. but to weigh 320lbs, i bet it does.

I totally agree. Actually I think anymore (as I become more obsessed with sound quality and clarity over volume) that 12's are even to big for what I listen to. The larger the speaker the slower it can 'hit'. anything larger than 15's will sound like total shit when listening to actual music (well some rap songs sound good with larger speakers like 15's and 18's). Larger speakers also require larger boxes and air which wastes space that most people like to have in their trunks and hatch areas now. But then again these speaker of this size are specifically designed to play slow deep bass at competitions instead of the bass or kick drum in a song during everyday use.

Actually I don't see where it would have enough room for a built in amp, unless it's a really small amp. That whole gray area should be totally filled with the magnets for a speaker of that size. And the rest of the area is used for the spider and cone and pole piece.

i like the 12's i don't mind losing some clarity of a 10" compaired to a 12", but i like the deeper bass a 12 produces. but like i said earlier not a fan of anything biger than a 12"
you can always tell the ppl that care about sound rather then how hard it can hit. always kills me when i get a import guy in my shop wanting to go fast but also wants to have 2 15's etc in his car...i try to tell him pick 1...do u want to go fast or do u want to hit hard bc u can't have both... but they always want both so i sit back take their money then laugh when they come back saying how much slower their car went @ the track... it's like realy nk... i guess another several hundred pounds of stereo equipment will do that huh

I dont think some people understand the concept of horsepower and torque. And how much weight effects a cars ability to accelerate.

there is no amp built in. they dropped one into a car on pimp my ride this past sunday. 1st one in a car, put it in an old buick... think they had 6 amps running it.. up to 12000 watts. 56 pound magnet is nuts
I remember the 32" subs they didnt impress me much. The stroker ones did though. Cerwin vega i think made them, had the big steal rods through the center.
Think this is it... awful picture

I started out with 2 15's. Then went to 4 10's and they hit harder than the 15's. Since then I've pretty much stuck with 10's. I did have a solo baric 12 in my geo tracker, and it was nice, but I was limited on space. After it was stolen, I stuck 2 8's in the side compartments at the back seat, sealing up the inner fender. That worked great, the bass resinated(sp?) threw the upper role bar. Now that I'm working on the Astro Van I have plenty of room to put in anything. Those 22's look nice.

36k RMS is competition power yo! You listened to that shit daily and you can still hear?
I've heard some top o' the line Viper amps running 4 Kicker 18's. I'm not sure on the power but was almost too loud for me.
