i like that too, very clean looking -- but in my opinion dsm's do not need body kits -- at least the 97-99's

Neither do the 1g's :thumb but I can sure make stock body parts look like it.. haha.

no the 2g's are the good looking ones w/ the bad motor and the 1g's are the bad looking ones w/ the good motor -- in my opinion it takes a lot to make one "look" good, i would take the 2g anyday -- but w/ the 6 bolt :thumb

I don't care much for that HUGE indentation on the rear bumper for the license plate. You could stick about 6 plates in there.

yeah, Mike, but look at a 97-99, it's about the same size...

I'm sorry man...but you're wrong. I had a choice between getting a 1g or a 2g..and not knowing much about DSMs at the time (1g being anti-crankwalk) i chose the 1g over the rounder 2g. Dont get me wrong, the 2gs are very nice looking..But Sam has the right idea..You do the right stuff to it and its beautiful.
But on the other hand...ive seen a good share of nasty looking 1gs as well (example: my car for the 1st year i had it)

u obviously didnt catch what i was saying -- it takes doing stuff the the exterior for the 1g's to look tight -- all u have to do is crush a 2g and it looks good -- factory body kit -- what else do u want -- im not dogging the 1g's at all -- its just my personaly preference to go w/ the looks of the 2g and the motor obviously of the 1g

dont take what i said the wrong way please, all my words were based off of opinion, which can hold no ground in most cases. Also, i must have skipped over that part of the hard work. My bad...Closed mind = open mouth :D

see thats the only thing that sux about posting on here -- u cant tell how somebody is saying something -- i was going off of my opinion as well -- i just like the 2g's looks -- in my opinion it is one of the best looking affordable cars ever made

a 92-94 talon is sexy...but when you compare it to a 2nd gen its really no competition on looks alone...the 2g is the panty dropper hands down..its obvious from the outdated styling of the 1st gen why i would say this..now i have owned both so i'm not going strictly on my current setup, they are just sexy ass hell..imo the 97-99 eclipse and the 97 talon(front fascia + high spoiler) are the hottest of the dsms and thats why you'll see 4x the amount of them at car shows...but the 1st gen awd's are the cars to get for a balls out track car

I'm not disagreeing with you saying that either that kit or the 97+ kit is not sweet...I just disagree with your reasoning behind why you see them all the time....for one, there were more 97+ cars made than the 95-96 and not only because of one more year...it was just an increasingly popular car...you can't hardly get a loan for a 1G nowadays either. using the quantity of cars at a car show as a gauge as having good looks or not?...going by that, civics would be the king shit? no, not quite. overall, it is kinda goofy to even argue that one OPINION is better than another....that one type of car is better looking because more people own it or you see more at car shows or even because more people say that it is their favorite. I am more-or-less just being devil's advocate here so please no one take offense to what I say....because hippocritically, I am known to harass 1G guys just as much as the other guy and accuse them of having "2G Envy" (admitting is the first step of healing)
I might as well have not even typed this because im re-reading it and realizing I am just babbling so again....might as well ignore me ; ) It just gets old to hear people going on ..insisting that one look is the boooomb shiiit and sneer at anyone that thinks otherwise. and to be an ass here (if I haven't been already)....I'd like to hear ONE STORY where anyone on here has actually had panties drop on the spot because of their car. If that happened to me...she best keep whats in those panties FARRRR away...it's been on too many "rides" if they are dropping for anything less than a lambo lol

I was around back when 1g's were coming out new and I was aware of their performance possibilities but wasn't exactly gaga about how they looked. I had a 91 Ford Escort LX and then later a 93 Ford Escort GT at the time and I liked that car's body style better than any of the DSM's that were out. Then in late 94 when the 95 model was coming out, that was when I fell in love with the DSM. The first time I saw one on the road was when I knew I had to have one. My love affair with Ford products was over. I knew it was over when I stepped on the new car dealership's lot. That is why I try to stay away from new car dealership lots today. I don't trust myself.
Of the 2G's, I think the Eclipses are the best looking.
Of the 1G's, I think the Talon's are the best looking.
Of the 97-99 2G's, I like the Talon front bumper better than the Eclipse front bumper.
The stock rims that I like best are the 17" ones on the 97-99 Eclipses that look like Jeff Shumway's.
Those are just some examples of my likes and dislikes of the DSM world.

Here's something that crossed my mind recently. Take a look at other cars from 90/91 and compare that to an early 1G. With few exceptions, the styling was (and in many cases is) rock solid for the DSM. As consumer taste progressed, so too did the DSM styling. IMO it always was one of the best looking cars out there.
I remember when I was 14 and saw a review for a 90 TSi AWD right before they hit the showrooms and I new it was hot. About the time I was graduating high school, the 92s came out and I had my first DSM a year later. A few years later, the 2G hit the market and I started eyeing me an AWD ;) It took some time, but I got myself in a 97 and loved it.
My tastes have evolved (no pun :D ) with each model introduction. At some point, I thought the current line up was the best, but then that was outdone with the next. Then again, why listen to me ;)

honestly..the main reason why i lean towards the 1g (other than I own one) is that the aftermarket has so few options for it while the 2g has SHITLOADS of different things you can do for showroom quality. Honestly, how many 1gs do you see in a showroom? close to none, if not actually zero. So when you see a pimpin 1g, you just have to appreciate it just that much more because the amount of effort and time put into it was a hell of a lot more than just picking out a bodykit from over 100 options.
Yeah, this is my opinion and this is why i drive what i drive. Dont get me wrong on my words, all you 2g boyos in the club have some damn nice cars and yeah, i sometimes wish mine looked/performed that well (Admitting is the first step of healing..my ass :D ) but the only thing i would want more than what i now drive is possibly a GSX.

Power of a 1G.. looks of a 2G... you cant go wrong!
97 body kit conversion as well..

if i had to pick... (well i dont really, cuz we have both here. lol) BUT...
Last year I woulda picked a 2g 97 talon over my flat black anyday, that is the BEST LOOKING STOCK DSM ever made...
This year I would have to go with my car over a 2g, (dont get me wrong, i still love every DSM) just because I think my car looks good the way it sits right now... and its not remarkible in performance, but faster then most 2g FWD's with the same mods.
Body kit? 1g's IMO don't even need them... some new paint with a few stock body parts and lowered with rims and exhaust, and the car looks amazing to me. :thumb
BTW, about the interior, i looove the 1g interior over a SEBRING interior anyday, its just a little more classy and race ready. in a class all its own. :thumb :booty

shit what did i start....i guess that i may be a little biased regarding the car that i own, go figure..i get wood everytime i wash my car and step back to look at it..is that normal? i by no means am trying to $hit on the 1st gens..i am only saying that they are 10-13 yrs old now and that style is very outdated in terms of car styling..i loved my 1st gen when i had it..i wasnt really into modding it to go faster at that time but i had done some look good stuff to it(stickercharged,rims...that kinda junk) and thats when i started looking at the second gens..i'm not real partial to the 95-96 b/c of that front end smiley face look and the half moon looking reverse lights...i'm not saying that b/c they appear at car shows they look better its just an example of it being a more popular car to show prep.from a tuner perspective stepping out of the dsm world i would have picked the 2g to show prep due to the plethera of parts available and the show car quality out of the box...and people only buy hondas b/c they couldnt afford a 2g dsm! ....cough cough stas.....lol, j/k..opinions are like a holes right, doesnt make me right

I don't look at it as a "smiley face" I look at it as a "smart ass smirk" ; )
lol......seriously though...anyone else notices that the most recent style 3G's appear to be frowning lol as do the new cavaliers....they frown because they rarely feel speed. I've always kinda looked at the front of a car as the "face" of it hence why I love the look of skylines and sylvias....they just seem to look like they are saying..."here I come!"
whoever posted about liking talons the best for 1Gs...I agree...to me..the 1G eclipse just seems to be missing something.

Really...the only difference in the 1g Eclipse and Talon..is only the wing (on some) comes all the way to the R/V mirrors, and the Lights are a little different. Granted, i think the Talon wings are the shit and make the car that much better.

I'm not one to favor aftermarket kits on dsm's all that much but 1lowdsm, I like that one you posted pics of...it is deffinitely different from stock without changing the stock lines too drastically. I dislike ones like the blitz and similar ones...not only are they "played out" and you see them all the time (thank you F&F) but I dislike how they take a very rounded car and suddenly give the front bumper all these shrp edges and lines.
yours = :thumb imho

Ouch.... that hurts... well, the truth always does, i guess.
Honda miniminivans rule...
That body kit looks pretty good.
What the hell is "clean"? Is it retaining the original form to some degree?
I liked my 1g, alot. :cry
