Sam and i took the tranny out of my 93 laser awd and it a 7 bolt motor. it looks to be the origanal motor (dont know). here is the interesting thing. the clutch and pressure plate are standard size, but the flywheel is the size of a 6 bolt, not 7. we had another 7 bolt flywheel laying around and it is about 1/2 inch bigger than my 7 bolt flywheel. go figure. anyone have any thoughts on this. we're stumped. wtf

LOL...93-94 have 7 bolt motors in them....they share the same 1G driveline and share most 6 bolt block chars...but the rods are smaller.like the 2G rods. all your stuff is prolly stock

Not sure of the size difference, in diameter or whatnot between a 6 and 7 bolt, but if it has 7 bolts holding the flywheel to the crank then it's a 7 bolt, and if it has 6 then it's a 6 bolt.

I'd expect you to not know what is going on since you are new to the world of DSM's but if Sam is "stumped" then I question why you are letting him touch your car.

It's kind of standard knowledge that you car would have a 7-bolt motor in it.

FWD and AWD flywheels vary in size, 6-bolt and 7-bolt flywheels only vary in the number of holes drilled through them.

Actually, I knew it COULD OF been a 7-bolt... But as a matter of fact the 2g 7-bolt flywheel actually is a 1/4in too big to fit into his 93 tranny... so that's where we are stuck at, and im sorry I didnt know it wouldnt work... I won't touch any of my family member's car's ever again Mike... MY BAD.

COULD OF been? Um, early 92's were the last to have 6-bolts. late 92's on have 7-bolts, common dsm knowledge...

not originally, no they didn't. If you look in any documentation on 1g's, including going to Autozone to look up oil filters, they split in 92.
