ok...so I did a fwd laser clutch saturday....we replaced the master cylinder a few days prior thinking that it was bad and also knowing that the clutch was in dire need of replacement. first off, I have never, in person, seen a clutch this bad....on one side, the entire surface of clutch material had come off of the center-most metal part of the clutch....the pieces were laying in the bottom of the bell housing. There were also thin, half moon shaped shavings that looked like they could have been part of the throw out bearing.....didn;t think much of it, just thought "man, he beat the hell outa this thing"
so I put it all back together...new disk, tob, fluid, master cylinder and bled the line...used act pp. Well....it will not disengauge....the master cylinder rod is threaded all of the way out.....if you try and shift into gear..it of course grinds and will not go in....start it IN gear and it wants to take off down the driveway....if you allow it to, it drives fine...just won't shift.

I mulled over it for a day...now im starting to think that maybe it just needs to be bled a whole LOT more than we did.....even though we bled it a lot. The slave moves when the pedal is depressed (it MAY have a little more movement in it) The pedal has a little bit of play at the top of it...making me think it might need the fix that www.taboospeedshop.com talks about with their new bushing kits. I also read about "quick fixes...spacing out the flywheel or tob (don't want to do that yet...it of course requires removing the tranny again)...longer slave rod...and some different master cylinder rod modifications (making IT "longer").

is there anything obvious that I am overlooking?
HELP!!

Im assuming the car DID in fact work at one point?

If it WONT shift.. it either needs to be bled more, or maybe adjusted more. Those are the 2 things I would start with first.

yes it DID work...I actually drove it from the kid's house to my house. about halfway there, it became undriveable in the sense that it would not shift....it was 100% the same symptoms of when my master went out on my car....hence why we replaced it.

more bleeding and slave replacement to come this evening....it has no more adjustment without some modification to the bracket that holds the master sylinder rod.

man..I'm tired of doing clutches : )

I wouldnt think you have to go haywire adjusting that peddle man. There HAS to be logic to it some where.

Replace/rebuild/take apart the slave cycl. Hell swap it with another for a bit and see if it at least lets you shift a bit.

someone suggested that the pp was worn out ...I hope to god that is not the problem.

I would deffinately assume that wouldnt be the case.

Usually if the slave like Shumy said. Swap.. test :thumb

When I had a new clutch installed, the release point drastically changed over the course of first 30-60 minutes of driving. Then I had to re-adjust it.

If your clutch disc was that far gone then I hope you either re-surfaced the flywheel or got a new one. Make sure it is stepped correctly.
