Can anyone here pull the valves from Kennys head for him so that he can get it resurfaced? Anyone know how to do this or have the time?

it's VERY easy to do, but you have to have the right tool to do it. Unfortunately, JP's tool is not phenomenal for this, but Jay C.'s is... :thumb

Ya, I heard it was easy, but we don't have the tool to do it with. Jay gave us pointers last night on how to seat them when installing them back in, but I didn't hear any details about taking them out....
Jay....help us :bow

You can rent the tool from Autozone/Advance/Napa for a couple bucks.

do they have one that works for our heads? Last we tried doing that, it was perfect for v8 heads, but didn't work for ours. I suppose it depends where you go to get one, but when we tried on Chad's head, we couldn't use the one we rented.

all you need really is a piece of metal the is magnetized and when you put it the valve top and smack with hammer...the retainers com right out.

whoever takes them out.if you are not gonna resurface the valves and seats, make sure the valves go back into the same hole it came out of.

My tool is from Sears. But it would not work for any DOHC design. So I had to weld a little extention on it. It works like a charm now. Kim, if you want to use the tool just get it from Ken. If you don't feel you can do the work then bring the tool and the head to me and I will do it. As long as I get my tool back some time.

Jay, got the tool from Ken last night....I'll see if Kenny feels comfortable doing it himself (if he hasn't already torn into it by now...who knows with him, he was up late)...I'll let you know and then get it back to you asap.

honestly it's not that tough. Put the tool on the valve, squeeze, and grab the retainers. Release the tool, valve will slide out. :)

Guess I shoulda checked with him before posting that....he already had them out....
Jay, if you go on Tuesday night out with the group, I'll bring your tool to ya, or if you happen to be visiting "The Place" this weekend, swing by or I can meet you there....
