Hello everybody,

I have a 1992 Eagle Talon non-turbo with the 2.0l 4g63. I am looking to rebuild it and I remember seeing some websites on the forums about good places to buy and I cannot seem to find them now. I tried doing a search, but no luck. Can anybody point me to a message on here or give me the addresses if you would happen to know them. Thanks.

Jerry

The parts for a rebuild can be bought at any Mitsubishi dealership and a number of them can be bought at Autozone as well.

Gaskets, oil seals, rings, etc.

www.partznet.com sells OEM parts at pretty good prices.

Hey thanks! A friend and I will be taking the head off to get it checked out this weekend and we are going to start getting it ready to rebuild. I am just going to keep it stock.

I think there are some websites that sell "kits" but you may be paying a premium for the sake of them gathering the parts together and puting them into a "kit".

You still may want to take the block to a machine shop to get it "tanked" to clean it out and have them lightly hone the cylinder walls for you. Make sure you coat the cylinder walls with a thick oil like 20W50 as soon as you get home. It rusts faster than you can snap your fingers.

Also, you may want to have them micropolish the crank as well.

You may notice that you cylinder walls will have the crosshatching still on them when you take apart the block. If you use stock "regular-sized" rings then you don't have to gap them. You will need to clean the carbon buildup in the ring slots on the pistons.

Thanks for the tips. I will definitely take them into consideration. I will have to ask my friend, who is a mechanic, who he recommends taking it to in this area...Zanesville. I have to rely on his truck to move stuff because I cannot fit much in my Jeep and not much place to tie down stuff either. Thanks for all of your help, I appreciate it very much. This is a big learning experience for me.

I pulled my full motor, and plopped it into a jeep wrangler right from the hoist.

No problem

The block itself fits easily in any trunk.

A regular car is all you need to transport a short block that is stripped down to the core. It don't weigh that much at all - maybe 50 pounds.

Well it is good news that I will be able to haul it in the Jeep. I will keep it away from the back glass...that piece is around 350.00, and that could very well be toy money :D ! Thanks again for everybody's help.
