View Full Version : Is it me, or is this an Eclipse and not a Talon?

Was thinking about checking it out, but seems shady.

Mitsu steering wheel, AWD badge on the pillar and an Eclipse spoiler.

That, plus it's at an auto repair shop... smells like a VIN swap.

Or am I crazy? :beer

Why does it matter? Why would anyone bother with a VIN swap? I think on those years the only VIN # was on the dash. Haven't you been around this scene long enough to know how people swap stuff in and out of these cars? 2G's have a VIN on the block and tranny but that does not even mean anything. People replace their dashes and gauge clusters and ECU's too. People wreck cars. People part cars out all the time. The older a DSM gets, the better chance that something major has been replaced on it.

Sooner or later, a DSM, somewhere or somehow, will either get parted out or will be put back together with other cars' parts.

Mitsubishi Motors should have put some sort of gauge on the dash of a DSM that let's people know when it is time to give up and part it out. Just make it an idiot light.

lol

So what do you think that POS is worth? $5k seems like a lot for a 1G, even a modded one.

Interior doesn't look so hot, either.

Yea people think modding doubles the value of the car.Unless its a full race car,its not gonna happen. There are 2 vin's that I know about on a 1g.The one on the dash and one on the tranny side of the block.

full race cars are worth about 1/3 of the parts on the car.... if that
