last night my car was reading 19+-20 volts and once it would hit there my lights would dim and radio would stop playing why is this?

just a day before i had to jump start my car because my alarm killed it could this have anything to do with it?

Hey man my car was doing this earlier and it was my alternator fuse. Changed that and everything went back to normal.

alt. dying when those lights come and stay on

Mine stays on for the few 30seconds or so that I actually DRIVE my car as well.

Could be a battery too.. take off the alt and have it load tested at autozone

if your voltage is reading that high..good chance the voltage regulator within the alternator has gone bad....be careful...don't drive the car until it is fixed..you could fry your electrical system. I made the mistake of sprinting down the highway at about 120 for an hour with mine that way. My Optima Yellow Top bubbled up like a mushroom and smelled of rotten eggs.

probably time for a new alt.

Did the same thing on a co-workers vehicle. He had a big Diesel camper and the voltage regulator went bad on the alternator. After he drove it for a while, he checked on the battery and the battery was blown up like a balloon. He is lucky it didn't explode while he was looking at it. Those campers use huge-ass batteries. It was like $200.00 to replace the battery.

Marc, I thought you had CW and couldn't drive it because of the clutch sticking to the floor.... wtf

The stator in the ALT is stuck on, and you need to replace the alternator, and perhaps the battery if it has been damaged.
