so my car, more specifically tranny, has been making freakish noises lately...suspicion has led me to believe the car wants to end itself or quite possibly it's a wheel bearing (not so much anymore). upon further examination this morning...
-the car will make a raspy/grinding noise not moving at all
-it stops eventually.. but if i rev the car up it will start again, then stop after 5-10 seconds
-with the clutch depressed.. it will not rumble
-initiate rumbling and then depressing the clutch, does not seem to stop it
-there is a slow leak in the tranny that i've been watching closely, and cannot figure out
suggestions/questions/comments/concerns/jokes welcome
-tob?
-tranny bearings?
-rust bucket?
-pour beer on it?
i think i should race it, break it, sell it... buy a friggin evo and a garage
THE END

Maybe a hungry old bear squeezed itself up in your tranny.

Back when the 2600 clutch went in, we used the plastic TOB that came with it, perhaps 20,000 miles into it the car starting making the same kinda noises you desribed, but mine got even worse when the clutch was pressed in. The Center diff exploded not too long afer that and we put in the OEM "metal" "2X" as heavy one lol and have not heard a noise since.

Who cares about your TOB rattle you loser, what about your driveline lash induced rumble under decel. That's what i'd be pissed about. We can fix your TOB when we install the new light flywheel, fmic, fuel system, and the Red.

That's cake. Just wear some earplugs and it goes away. Yah come on up, we'll have a tranny swap beer party. I just FUBAR'd Dans tranny tonight. Dont' ever let Gunner ride shotgun, the car will be prone to breakage. In 5 years of racing these junkers I break my first tranny tonight. :beer

update a 2 month old thread anybody? I got stranded on side of road wednesday night, push clutch in.. clutch doesn't come back out, call tow truck guy
tranny leak suspect: failing clutch fork increased slave cylinder movement provoking leak down cross member, splashing onto back of tranny, and still possibly t-case
rumbling: clutch fork took a major shit, some bits must have been kicking around for fun for the last couple of months
TOB: probably toasted from bits of fork, will put in good old style oem bearing since shit is apart
