There's a guy on SoCal looking for additional drivers and team members to assist in the cost as well as driving for the race at Altamont.

The main rule of the race is you have to find a car and prep it for
under $500 not including safety equipment. So yes there will be a
lot of POS cars out there. We were lucky enough to find a 1G in very
good condition for $250. We had to drive for 3hrs to the middle of
nowhere to pick it up though. Which is why we got it for as cheap as
we did.

Here ya go, JP....

WHEN
29-30 September 2007, Rain or Shine

ENTRY DEADLINE
15 July, 2007

WHERE
Flat Rock Speedway, Flat Rock MI

That sound's like it would be a blast to do. But to find a car in fair condition for less than 500, you will be spending a lot of time searching add's.

The MitsuBeasty finished 15th out of 83 this pat weekend at Altamont and drove away with $500... in nickels.

If they painted it rainbow colors, they could have called it a MitsuBeasty GayLant.

It's a Mirage, silly. That does give me an idea for next year though...

It was initially meant for you JP, after your grassroots entry etc. :)

Can you rent a car?

If there's any doubt to the value of the car, they will give you $500 cash and immediately smash your Lemon on-site. Not to mention those racing may be called into pits for random acts of lunacy. This year the C&D team had two farm animals welded to their roof and then the least favorite team (as voted upon by the participants) was modified into a permanent convertible and given other aerodynamic tweaks courtesy of some teenagers with sledge hammers.

well shit. next year all of your asses better throw in and we'll do it. B&H can put a car together, and only one of us will have to actually spend big money to get out here. lol

Thats what I though. We would like to do an event like that-but until recently they have all been on the coast, and time/travel plays a big factor.

We have a fleet of cars that would be able to run in that race. That one is not about the win, its about just getting to the finish line!
