I am just wondering if they are of not very good quality. I keep getting a CEL related to my ECT sensor. I've replaced the sensor twice, both with Autozone parts (Wells is the company who made it). Again, this morning I got another CEL related to the ECT. It seems the sensor last for a month or two then pukes. I am definately going to replace it with OEM to see if that fixes the problem forever. Or if anyone else has and ideas I am more then open game (typically happens when the car is at normal operating temperature).

I mainly was curious if anyone else has experienced such a problem with a non-OEM sensor. The error code I am getting is 115 (if I remember correctly) which is the points to the ECT circuit.

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, it feeds back the temperature of the engine to the ECU. The location is below the radiator fill cap with a single black spade connection. Basically, it tells the ECU if the car is "cold" or "normal" operating temperature.

Either way, I am wondering if the Wells sensor's response is just a tad off from OEM, or does not respond as quickly, hences the ECU freaks and throws a CEL. Unfortunately, Mistu had to punish with the CEL light of doom that won't go bye-bye until its cleared.

Atleast with my Hyundai, if you hit the rev-limiter the CEL goes away. Easy fix there :D .

I ran without that sensor for about a year. Buschur aparently didnt think it necessary to put in when he did my initial swap.

I have it now. It doesnt have anything to do with any operating conditions you know.

The coolant temp sensor in the throttle body however is important to have if you want a normal start up and idle.

1g water necks have 2 extra sensors in them. One is for the EGR valve I believe and the other is for the A/C switch. Neither one obviously necessary during a 2g 6 bolt swap but the main one to the ECU is along with the small one that goes to the gauge :D

I thought it did. Oh well, either way I get annoyed with the repeated CEL. I think I am going to hit up a junkyard and pull one and see if that might help out. I guess the 90-99 turbo/NAs are all the same sensor. I think while I'm at it I might pull a 1g BOV if I find a turbo car.
