Only when I started my 2G manifold a while back. Thats not what they looked like in the end.. but will give you a good idea of what to do at least.

You can see the carbon buildup on the runners from the exhaust side off the head... you can port out to match that.

You can open the 6cm hole a bit as well.. knife edge the middle piece. Port the turbine side of your turbo to the hole size of the manifold of course.

Try to make everything you ported nice and smooth too.. to help with flow :)

Does porting the runners actually do any good without having the head ported to match?

They are smaller.. and can be ported... increase exhaust flow to the turbo.. sure they do :)

I dont have a pic of BEFORE i ported.. but if you pulls yours off... there is alot of gas that "hits" the metal as the manifold start from the head.. can slow exhaust flow just a bit.

Even if you made them smoother and didnt port.. it would still be a good thing.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I didn't realize they were any smaller. :)

Dont have a measurement.. but you can safely remove quite a bit of material from them.

I dunno is JP has pics of his... but his manifold is ported the best Ive seen.. unfortionately he had quite some time to work on it though :( But at least hes back :)

o2 housing.... Unfortionately when I bought it, the middle was already taken out and the openenings were hogged out a bit much. I further ported it to get these results.... (2g o2 btw)

I was able to use some bits at home to open the wastegate hole A L O T bigger than stock. I sold it tho :rolleyes

Most of your porting should be in the collector area. Start by porting the outlet to the size of your gasket(asuming your turbo is ported). THis will give you anice basis of where everything has to merge into. After that start working your way up into the runners a little form the collector side. Smooth gradular transitions are your friend, avoid any sharp corners. As for the wall in the middle of the collector, it's probably best to leave soem of it in there. I've completely gotten rid of them on some of my port jobs, but I've spent hours getitng everything just right and they've worked.

As for port matching the other runners to the head be sure to use the old 1g metal/paper gasket. Using a metal gasket will give you way to large of runners and nice thin wall thicknesses that wil lead to cracking.
