I'm trying to figure out whats rattling around in there. The tranny is out and laying on the ground. I took all the 14mm bolts holding on the rear cover and the bolts between the bell hosing and tranny. The question is: how do I separate the bell housing from the tranny? I can get it pulled apart about 2 inches and thats it but I don't want to force it. Do I have to take the gears and that big nut off of the rear side before it slides out :cuss Please advise. Oh yeah by the way... trannys suck balls. :finger

An impact or a penny will come in handy along with that socket.

JP and I tried the penny trick with 3 pennies. No more pennies. If that doesnt work for you, try doing this.
Use the shifters to put it into 5th gear. Then manually slide the shift rails (the 3 rails sticking out at you) into another gear without letting 5th gear out, preferably first gear. Now you are locked into 2 gears at once and the tranny is locked up. And don't forget to unbend the nuts a little with a chisel. They are bent inwards in two places. We ended up putting it on an engine-stand and having JP jump on the breaker bar for a minute.
Have fun.
