I took the header out today to drill for the EGT probe. I had the front bumper off and I/C so I figured what the hell. Little bit of a bitch to get out but it's out. :thumb

Question. Since I have it out is there anything I could do to increase HP here? I don't have a lot of cash, I/C set me back a few. :D

Oh, and I am drilling in the first runner. Thoughts on that?

I wonder how that exhaust manifold compares to a 2G version. As in, does it also fit? Are the studs on the ends bif studs like 10M and all the rest are 8mm?

I don't believe they'd work on anything other than the EVO. The turbo is offset to the opposite side, and it's a twin scroll design with an .ar that would normally make most of you cringe.

Just by looking at the pic, there is no way that would fit.

Yeah look at the top of the turbo exhaust housing.

I would say port work.. But I dont think you want to kill your warranty like that.

Damnit!!

Now that I got it out I have to tap it. Yep, I have no taps and no ride to the hardware store. The only thing I have here are lazy ass freinds that are still fucking sleeping. :rolleyes

Anyone have a set of taps I can use? Fine thread. Here's the kicker. I need someone to bring them to me. :D I'll pay whoever helps me out.

I borrowed my neighbors bike and biked my ass to Sears. :D 3 miles, one way. Not too bad really.

I got the tap and the EGT bung for the probe is in. :wtg: Now I gotta get some coolant. I removed the coolant hose to the turbo and wooosh there goes the coolant, some of it anyways. I think it was just what was in the turbo draining out. Hopefully the I/C will get here today and I should have everything back in by tonight. Fingers crossed. :p

Port it, if you have the tools it doesn't cost a thing. Should be able to see some gains if you can do it properly.

Well, called Buschur and they said it was still on the shelf waiting to be welded. I called Monday at 9:00 am. I'm getting a little impatient. Maybe I will get it on Friday now. :cuss

Got it in Friday night and everything is done. Looks like the I/C is cooked though. I think it's because I am not using their upper I/C pipe so it pushes in on the driver side just a tad. I notice it so it pisses me off.

As far as a direct replacement, no chance. I had to bend the hagers to match up with the wholes. And minor cutting of the under tray, yeah right. I had to cut quite a bit. Other than that it was pretty easy.

I noticed a bit more lag, not a lot, but noticeable. Pulls harder in the uper RPMs.

I also installed the EGT probe. I have it on the first runner. WOT I am at 1400 degrees. That seems pretty high.

yup...you should tune for 1500-1550 area..that should keep detenation at bay...of course use high octane which i'm sure your using...that ic sprayer should help keep your intake charge cooled nicely...1550 on egts and you'll feel a little more power on the butt dyno

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I thought it was high but it looks like I have room to work with. :thumb

Any suggestions to get it at 1550?

MrBlunt

yeah two ways, add more air...turn up the boost....or remove some fuel from the mixture..ie leaner ....either one should get you a little higher egts

up to 21psi!

evilevo
09-24-2003, 01:46 AM
Well, I'm running 21psi already. The other night I was playing around with a Mustang Cobra around 11:30 at night coming from a freinds house on 270, always seems to happen to me :D . I start pulling hard on this joker and I hit fuel cut, looked down and I was running 24psi :eek . It was much cool out than normal that night. I need to tune this fucker right.
