who said nick berg was helping his country? he was a civilian in hostile territory in a nation we just invaded with no gun and/or affiliation with the US military.

From what i hear the US military found him one day before his execution and told him to get the hell out, well, obivously he didn't. of course that could just be rumor b/c i have no info to back it up. this says it all, and says it best:

"I read this on another site and I couldn't have said it better myself...

"And to Nick Berg's father who claims, "Nicholas Berg died for the sins of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld." Now I can appreciate the fact that you're in pain, and I can appreciate the fact that your pain is amplified because your son's last moments are being traded around the internet like some goatse video. But let's get something straight. Your son is dead because he was an unarmed American civilian who chose to run around fucking the capital of a country we just invaded. Your son isn't dead because of someone else's sins, other that the crazy eyed wacko who sawed his head off with a butcher knife. It doesn't take the Pink Panther to know that Iraq is a dangerous place especially for American civilians, regardless of their good intentions. Your son didn't have to be there. He wasn't drafted into the military, he was there of his own free will. Your son took a calculated risk, and he came out on the losing end.

If you truly believe that GWB is responsible for your son's death, then is the flip side true? Is he responsible for my still being alive? My head hasn't been hacked off by some Al Queda nutjob. Should I attribute this to this country's great leadership, or to the fact that I'm smart enough to keep my happy ass right here in the U-S-of-A and not go parading around in Baghdad when I know it's still a fucking hellmouth? Has NASA kept me safe because I haven't died in space? Has Steve Irwin kept me safe because I haven't been eaten by a crocodile? Has the Navy kept me safe because I haven't drowned?

No, no, and no. I've kept my own ass safe by not putting myself in a position where I can be killed in an instant. It's called personal responsibility. Don't want your head hacked off by a militant Muslim? Here's an idea, then don't be Jewish and caught walking around in a lawless Muslim country. Don't bet your life on a fucking flip of the coin. Duh." "

"It's called personal responsibility."

THAT is real point, right there. Read it again, kids. And then re-read it again. And then tell your friends about it. And then read it again.

It's the lack of it is the real root of nearly ALL of America's "problems".

Everyone expects fucking handouts for doing jack shit. Why the hell would I want to work, when the government will give me a paycheck and pay for my healthcare? Why blame myself for my problems, when I can pawn it of on everyone else, like my parents, my boss, and especially my government? Take care of yourself, and don't rely on others to pick up your deadass. It's all about personal responsbility.

I wholeheartedly agree with taking personal responsibility. He made a very bad decision and it cost him his life. The fbi had warned him a few times, according to the media, and he refused. His bad.

What he was doing was not for his country but for the betterment of a country in shambles. What they did was very f__ked up. That man was killed b/c of what country he was born in. That is bullshit. You can harp all you want about him being in the wrong place due his refusing to leave, which was pretty fn stupid, but they killed the dude b/c they hate US. They flew planes into two towers b/c they hate US. What happened doesn't sicken me as much as why.
