what is the best way to determine whether or not a ACT 2100 will do. or if a 2600 is needed? also how hard is it really to change out a clutch without pulling the motor?

what are your goals? That's how you figure out which clutch.
As for changing it, on a 1g, if you have no problems and another flywheel that's been machined, about 2 1/2 - 3 hours total would be my guess. I have a friend that can do the whole thing including machining the flywheel in around 2 hours or less by himself(other than the machine work).

To change the clutch you dont need to pull the motor.. Only the tranny.
What kind of vehicle is it?? FWD? AWD?
AWD 1Gs like 2600's. 1G and 2G FWDs a 2100 will be fine. 2G AWD thats your call.. 2600 can walk a 2G motor quicker due to the increased pressure the 2600 gives over any other clutch(going by RRE victims listings)
Tell us what car its going in.. what you plan on doing.. and maybe what mods you have.. and we could help you determine what would suite your needs fine.

well i have a 1g manual awd talon. these are my mods so far: 2g mas, safc. 550 injectors, cyclone intake mani, 2g throttle body elbow, supra front mount ic w/ 2.5 inch pipes. 3 inch intake pipe. big 16g, ported 2g exhasut mani and a custom computer. these are the only mods that i can think of that effect performance. my car will be a daily driver soon. i have a brand new 2100 but i do not want to find out after the fact that i should have used a 2600.
Thanx guys

personally, I'd go with a 2600, but you might be able to get away with the 2100. I love my 2600, and I like the heavy pedal. Those mods, you should be making some decent power, and a 2100 may not be enough.

Get the 2600 especially if you are nervous or not used to the install because I promise you end up with a 2600 about 30 to 50 passes later if you put that 2100 on.

I have a question regarding the 2100 too...
As you all know, I bought that for my car back in March, when it was installed, it never did feel right (yes, I know I had crankwalk then, but still) My stock clutch in my car both before installing this 2100 was very hard, like a race clutch. After JP taking it out and installing another stock clutch in it again, it was back to feeling hard again and still does. I've tried other stock clutches and they all feel so easy to push in.
Then Sam installed the 2100 in the green eclipse and it STILL feels so easy to push in, like a stock clutch...
What is the deal? Is that how it suppose to feel? I'm just not getting it. I thought since it was a "race clutch" it should feel more "racey" than that. Like I said my stock clutch feels more like a race clutch than it.
Just wondering if someone could shed some light on this...or if anyone else has this problem.

I've never driven a car with a 2100 but I've been told that the pedal pressure is very close to stock and may be unnoticeable to most.

I guess stock is like the green eclipse we have and I've tried pushing in a few of the other members clutches...
I just wonder why my pedal pressure feels so hard...you would think I'm driving with a big race clutch in my car.
(you know how hard it is to go from driving the green eclipse or the 1.8 we had to driving my car :rolleyes It really feels hard to push in after that) :confused

hahahahahaha :thumb let me tell you first hand that they don't know SHIT... and they cant usually supply the part's they "think" will be good for ANY car... let alone a DSM. I tried to teach them.. I really did, but it still seem's like it just didnt get thru to them... :( very sad for a import shop.
BTW... They owe me ALOT of money, I wish they would just fuckin pay me.

well now we know why they have shut down. but on the other hand the funniest thing happened today. i got my clutch out of the corner today and realized it isnt ACT is is a centerforce 1, lmao. but anyway, what is the comparison between the two? do i still need a better clutch for my AWD? i went to the centerforce site and saw that it is the same price as the 2100. so i guess i am going to leave the price at 300.

Centerforce.... umm... either you love them or you hate them. I haven't, nor plan to, used one, but there are others that sware by them.

yea he got me pretty good. i trading him a 91 fwd talon tsi for 1200 and a afc, 550 cc injectors (witch i do not think are really 550) and this stupid clutch (which see said would be perfect for a modified AWD)!!!
