head issues

After another startup of justins car with the new DP on :)...we noticed a lil puddle of oil forming underneath the car...traced it up to between the block and the head...SHIT. so after ordering the mitsu 4 layer and cursing a bit...we will be puling the timing assy completely off and ripiong the head off for the ne gasket. Here is where our problem is though...when the engine ran it knocked still. but it is coming from under the valve cover. not like a tick which would indicate lifters..but a high speed knock associated with RPM. its mostl likely coming form a cam as the speed is double that of the crank RPM (same speed as lifter tick) but its a low pitched knock...anyone???

water got inside one of the lifters. Water, once again, is non-compress-able....who knows what damage it did....I say it may have bent a single valve....or you might have ruined a cam lobe as well.

we tried doing similar things with kens cover just laying on.. and oil come out everywhere

we cranked her over with the cover off and every thing "looked" fine...we will know when the head comes off...

yeah, I had no idea he was going to be working all day. I was told he was taking work off so I was home this afternoon ready to tear into it, and nobody was home. So, my car is tore all apart. :)

yeah, well currently it is sitting in the driveway, not moving anywhere. :) Gonna have to do some work before the cookout, if it's going to make it there.

head is off, gasket was fuxored. I think some mild porting will be done today, as well as dis-assembling the head to clean the lifters and make sure everything is fine. I'll let Justin go into more detail if he wants...
