Anyone on here good with tv repairs? I got a zenith dlp, yesterday I turned it on and had some green. Basically the faces were green and other colors as well. I unplugged the tv last night after having it run like this, then this morning plugged it in and the color was back to normal. After about 1-2 hours though the color went back to green.
Any suggestion on what it would be or should be looked at?
Good repair place that would make house calls?
Let me know, thanks.

They are over in like Bexley.
This is where I took my big screen Mitsubishi CRT TV back in the day to get fixed. You can pay extra and have them come to your house. It was a PITA to deliver my TV to them and then to pick it up especially when you don't have a truck or SUV to carry it in and it is too big/heavy to carry by yourself. They fixed my TV good. It is still running today. I think I would have paid extra to have them come to my house to fix it if I ever had to go through that again.

Maybe you got too much dust inside your TV. Unplug it and take the back off of it and use an air compressor to blow it out. I get hardware failures on my PC's maybe every 1 to 2 years from dust collecting on the circuit boards and shorting things out. I blow out the dust and reboot and things return to normal.

That is the worst idea ever. Don't use an air compressor. Unless you can use a compressor used for painting, the air will also have moisture and oil in it. Otherwise you're better off using a can of compressed air.

my compressor is oil free so I have used it on my computer. I figure it has less moisture than me blowing into it with my own breath. Can of compressed computer cleaner air would probably be best.

I'd take it here, but 60" is bit to big to fit in my trunk. I'll try the can of air and also visually inspect the thing.
Thing that gets me is that it is fine after being unplugged for 1-2 hours and then comes back. Almost like it's getting to hot or something.
Thanks for the advise and place to service it.

I read somewhere you can purchase a demagnitizer from radio shack, and run it in circular motions on the screen. Not sure if that is just for older tv or for nevew. Anyone ever tried it or heard of it?

that won't fix a DLP, that would only work for CRTs, I believe. With it being DLP, I would suggest a tech come look at it. It won't be dust, it is likely the motor that turns the wheel. Or maybe a problem with the mirrors. lol Seriously, though, It is likely in the DLP engine. Maybe you could take out the DLP engine and take it to the shop? I would definitely suggest not opening the engine itself, but the tech that replaced my engine in my 61" said that the motor is a common problem.

Can you get a stroker engine for that DLP.....to give it some more power?

How about spraying some NOS vs AIR? :) jk
The light engine was replaced 2 years ago. Is that the same part you are talking about?
When it was in the shopw a few years back, it had a small spot of green, never bothered me. Tech mentioned the mirror can be adjusted or is probably miss aligned or has dust on it.
Soon as I hear back from the place, I'll schedule an appointment to have them come out. I'm hoping it wont cost to much.

yeah, that's what I was talking about. Mine was replaced about 3 months after I bought the TV. Now, I'm no technician, so if they said it could be dust on the mirrors, then maybe give a can of air a try, shouldn't hurt anything. But first I would call the above mentioned shop, explain whats happening, and see if they can give you an idea of what it might be, and an estimate if it's something more than just dust. I wouldn't just make an appointment then hope it won't be too expensive.

I'll give them a buzz tomorrow. What really weird, this afternoon it did it again, came home plugged the tv in, great picture, about 1.5 hours later no reds are displayed and the screen goes green.
The weird part is I can put a DVD in the dvd player and the colors are back. Thats making me thing perhaps it has to do with the jack in the back? Component jacks?
