Just got back from doin' a re-tune at Slowmo today. I still don't understand it - 93 octane, front mount and he said he turned up the boost and it was about 17-18 psi. I thought for sure I was going to hit 300, but I am still coming up short. Maybe it's because automatics just SUCK....

What are the boost and AFR curves looking like? How about a log from DSMLink?

I'll get a log up here soon. I am just at a complete stand still. I thought for sure that I would hit above 300 but I guess it just isn't possible without doin' stuff to the tranny (which, I kinda want to stay away from).

Yeah, totally don't have that kind of money man. I just spent A LOT doing this new turbo set-up and tuning - pretty much all out of cash right now.

Don't get caught up with A) Chasing a number that really doesn't have much bearing beyond the piece of paper it's printed on and B) thinking that the auto tranny is the limiting factor with your setup.

Well, I was just going by what they were telling me. Here is a log. It's mostly city driving but I was able to get on the freeway a couple times and I put the throttle down about 3/4 of the way. Towards the end, I hit the gas almost all the way from a dead stop but it was only a few seconds. I am running DSMlink on my Mac so I don't know if you Windows users will have any trouble with the attachment....

The only thing I can say is that after opening DSMlink, go to File->Open and then open it. If you double click on it, usually DSMlink will open but it won't automatically bring it up, you kinda have to do it manually...

Try and do a few clean sweeps from no/low boost to 7K at full throttle. I higher gear is preferred, but don't do anything stupid in the process. Even if it's second just to get a feel of what's going on. Three of the four "runs" in the log are showing some knock, but I have no idea what conditions the car was under to provide much insight. Something more repeatable and controlled would validate what's going on.

Okay, I gotcha. I will have to "find" a place to do this - I'll try to get on some backroads sometime today or somethin'. Should I leave it in D or drop it down to 2?

You're in Lewis Center, right? Unless things have changed, take Lewis Center road over past the dam, then turn left on Africa Rd. Once you get around the curve and past the dam, it's a pretty straight and open road with not much around. At least it used to be a couple years ago, so growth is possible. But that's where I used to go to make long pulls. Just make sure you go back and forth once to make sure there's no county sherriff sitting around one of the picnic areas or whatever.

I've done some stupid shit in that same spot :)

From an engine load standpoint, you want to be in D (O/D off), but from a safety/legality standpoint, use 2. Start with 2 and if you decide to go further, save the log and click the lever up a notch.

Yes, I know this. :) But it still stands that it's a good place to make a pull.

Allright, here is two pulls I just got done doing. The first pull was from a dead stop in D (full throttle). The second pull was rolling at about 35 in 2nd and then slammed the throttle to the floor as well. Granted, it's pretty hot today so that didn't help.

Actually, I did a couple pulls off of Shanahan Road.....nothin' but fields over there.....no houses for about a mile or so and usually there's no cops around. I would be hesitant on Africa - those damn Park Rangers have picked up my friends speeding before....

off shanahan? you mean Piatt road? the county sherriff always sit around there in peoples driveways (that's where I used to live, parents still do). FYI from the corner of Piatt and Hollenback Rd to the first house on the right when going east on Hollenback is just over a 1/4 mile. Learned that one when I was 16. :) There used to be a huge tree before you got to the house, it was at exactly a 1/4 mile, but it was taken out when they widened the road 6 or 7 years ago.

Yeah, Piatt, thats what I meant. I have never seen cops over that way. Oops. Now I know, haha...I just did a turn around where those railroad tracks are, got to that stop sign and just took off. Didn't see a soul around.

I had a fondness for that tree and sad to hear it's no longer there. I can't believe it's been that long since I've been down that road.

yeah, it was gone before I ever even met you the first time. lol In fact, my 6 or 7 years is probably off, as it was gone while I was in college, and I graduated 8 years ago. :eek
