Here's what I found with only 3500 miles on mine :eek I'm sure glad the drain plug is magnetic as I'd hate to have that floating around on the inside :bash

woah! that looks lke Stas's pussy! all furry!

(see other thread)...I'm not being profane ; )

on a serious note....can you get magnetic plugs at just any parts store?
or, does an evo plug fit a 2G? I need to do that for my oil too....anyone ever seen the "sleeves" that are magnetic and fit around your filter? they look like they might work well too.

The bolt is the same 24mm size as a DSM. I would think it would work, but won't say for sure as the EVO plug is at least twice as long. I can't think of a clearance issue off-hand, but I'd say it would be worth a try.

if it goes in and fits tight....is anything possibly going to move on the inside and hit it?

I've yet to learn much on the internals of a tranny so I'm blind here.

the plug you showed there is the bottom one right?

Yes, that's the bottom drain bolt. It's located in a similar spot to a 2G FWD. I'm not all too familiar with the internal location of things, but I'll see what I can find on my CD.

Jamie, you do realize that is normal for a new car right?

Yes, I know it's normal for a new car to have some rough edges that get smoothed out on their own--albeit floating around in some fluid ;) I'm just glad A) that I have a magnetic plug now and B) that I didn't wait until the recommended service change. I feel much better with the fresh Amsoil in there for the cross country drive :thumb
