$21,000 with 60,000mi seems a bit much. They list the intercooler as "oversized" and the factory recaro seats as "custom". I said $18,000 is the most I could do. Searching forums they are easily found in this price range. Dealer denies this and said they have more than 18k into it. The dash panels are out because the ecu is being replaced.
Are dealerships allowed to give out previous owner contact info so I can see what the story is?
Should I pass on it for now and hope they don't sell it and negotiate?
This would be my first dealership purchase and i'm not impressed with salesmen that read pamphlets and think they know everything about the car.

I would say pass. Not a evo man but that shit is high. And why the hell is the computer being replaced? And yes I believe you can contact previous owners.
If shit seems fishy walk away. Dont let them sink the hook in. If you tell them what you want to pay for it and show true interest and funds and you walk away they will probably stop you before you get to the door.

'04 retail is around $16k. In most States it is not legal for the dealers to give out contact information because of the privacy act. You can get it yourself with a Carfax.

I have a secret too, and I'm going to be as vague as possible instead of just telling you what it is.

I don't know what the secret is. I know this auction place has a high volume of salvage and repo vehicles. I can't afford Ken's evo. I like the silver one
9t1tsi posted but I want a black or white car.

And I don't think I would buy anything from automotive business that can't spell Mitsubishi (dropdown menu has Mistubishi)

So I clicked the free carfax report icon on the cars page.. http://www.savannahmitsubishi.com/j/i/912/Pre-OwnedInventory.html?mid=171102
and it takes me to carfax saying that this white 04RS is in Baltimore Ohio. Funny thing is that the link is for the car 9t1tsi posted in parts trader. http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?vin=JA3AH36D34U067617&partner=WTL_0
