Ok, here's the story...
The 14b was put on my car back the night before going to Norwalk. Then right after that is when my father died and I headed down to Alabama. On the way home I noticed it was ticking rather loudly. It seemed as if the oil pressure was a little lower than normal. After making it home, the oil pressure was WAY low and the sound was really loud. (at least to me) So I knew it was time for an oil change anyhow. Went to change the oil and there was next to no oil in it and the bolts to the oil return line was loose with oil dripping out of it.
Now you can't hear it setting at idle and really much at boost...but when you get to around 2500rpm to around 3000rpm you can really hear it. When you are driving normal and keeping at a steady speed is when you will hear it. Decreasing speed or increasing speed, nothing.

John came over last weekend and did a compression test. Here are the results: 175 150 175 175. Then decided to dump some oil in there and then the compression tester broke. So...we couldn't determine what the problem was.

Any idea's? :confused It's just driving me nuts to hear this noise. If you ask me...it's a KNOCK...you ask others...it's a loud TICK. This is something I've never had problems with before. My tick has never been loud or noticeable. GRRRRR :huh

its just freakin lifter tick im telling ya! Have you EVER heard my car? Its LOOUUUDD!

You REALLY need to get a fuel pump for that machine of yours Kim.

20psi on a stock fuel pump is BAD bad news. Take that turbo off and get some port work so you dont creep that high.

You might have damaged your engine letting the oil get that low. But you won't know until click click click CLUNK and the engine seizes. You could go paranoid like me and check the oil every damned morning...but then again, I was having to add oil almost every day as well.

I have had lifter tick so bad that I have had to shut my engine off in the drive thru to place an order.

You need to get the "updated" lifters and have Sam install them. My Eclipse no longer ticks.

Also, using 10W40 dino oil helps to mak eit go away.

Kim, hate to be the bearer of bad news..............
Mine was doing the same thing when I waterlogged it. It's a lifter. The lifter in the cylinder with low compression is the problem. You have to clean them to make it go away, it will bring your compression back up also. Sam should know how to do this, but if I'm right, it's a 2-day project. I hope it's not, but it sounds too similar to me to ignore.

PS. After I took all the lifters out and cleaned them, I don't have any lifter tick. It's quiet and smooth now, but now I have no glass, so it doesn't matter a whole lot :) :thumb :confused
