View Full Version : Low Idle

It's killing the car. I think I know what the problem is, but I just want to make sure to get some other opinions. (BISS screw is fine). I'm running 650's, and I have it leaned out to 28% at idle. Sometimes when I'm driving, it's fine, it idles around 750 like normal. Other times, it dies every time I let off the gas. My theories are.......

1. Too much fuel pressure (putting in AFPR as soon as it arrives)
2. Battery terminal is kinda loose (getting another one at Dennis tomorrow)
3. Plug dangling off the car by the exhaust.
4. Hose (3/8") not attached to anything leading under the battery.

The first two are viable problems, and they are being addressed as soon as possible. But the last two are harder. I have no idea where this plug goes. I have no idea what the hose was connected to. I have 20mm of Hg vacuum. I get lots of boost. It might be to the charcoal container, who knows. I'm just getting sick of my car idling out and dying on me. I'm working on it tomorrow, and I'll get the terminal done and fix my window rattle among other little stuff. I just wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions about the low idle/killing my car idle. Thanks.

I'd have to look at the plug to answer about that.

As far as the hose coming from under the battery. My car has one, it's there for dranage from the battery tray. It should route to under the car.

I would assume that is what yours is. S

How about you send some leaness my way. I cant get rid of PURE richness and fuel cut.

Dont bother with a damned thing till you get the FPR.. this is what im dealing with as well.

Funny thing is...

255pump and 650s... my lo 1k setting is.... "0" :eek

Justin, you forgot to mention something. Your BOV VENTS!!!

The hose from under the bat tray goes to the intake pipe, just let it dangle. The plug is normal, I think. I'd have to see where it is, but I know there's a plug somewhere that doesn't plug into anything, I believe. Pay attention when it dies, did you just boost it? Or did you build no boost? If you built boost, the BOV opened, let air out that was counted by the ECU, it gets confused, and dies. Mine does the same thing, always has since I got the SSQ.

I would put my money on that...

Let's see what's behind door #2..........a wrong answer!!!! WOO!!!

I don't boost on my car now that it dies all the time. I'm just cruising along, and I will shift into neutral at 20mm Hg in vacuum. It will always die if I let off after boosting hard. I just can't figure out why it dies when I'm not boosting on it, and I shift into neutral. (I started it this morning and it idled at 450 until it died.......woo!)
