Step 1: Order a non-cruise control throttle cable.

www.turbotrix.com sells one for $60.00 as of 5/18/2004. (Select "Parts and Service" on first page, then "Engine" on 2nd page, scroll down to almost the bottom of the page)

You could also use the stock non-cruise control cable from a 2G Spyder GS (which has the non-turbo 2.4L engine) years 1996 to 1999 (silly, there was no Spyder in 1995). You could probably get this off of a wrecked 2G Spyder GS. But they did not make a lot of those cars. This is probably the same part that Turbotrix is selling.

According to CAPS, the 2.4L Spyder non-cruise cable is a different part number than all other non-cruise cables. And, the cruise control throttle cable part number is the same for both the 2.4 and the 2.0 turbo engines.

Conicelli www.partznet.com sells the non-cruise control throttle cable for $33.77 as of 5/18/2004. (Isn't this a little cheaper than Turbotrix?)

Step 2: Remove your cruise control components from the engine compartment as well as the throttle cable that goes up into the passenger compartment. You probably should leave the lever on the steering wheel alone as well as the switch on the dash to the left of the steering wheel.

Step 3: Install the non-cruise control throttle cable.

If anyone has ever done this mod then please send me a PM or email. I would like to take photographs of the engine compartment.

it was a fairly easy swap.
there are two bolts holding the cable to the firewall and a little plastic clip holding it to the pedal.
a few more bolts holding the box to the firewall and the other one to the shocktower. disconnect the harness on the solenoid and tuck it away.

a straightforward swap. it would be easier without the manifold or battery in but it was easy enough to do with them in and the correct length socket extentions.
