Is it better to have a High Flow cat, on your dsm, or no cat at all like i do now........ cuz i have the apexi n1 exhaust on it with the down pipe... just seeing what you fellas think.....

restriction is bad.

but some people would say that the illegality of being without a cat is bad as well...you weigh out the consequences to yourself.

If your car is driven on the street then you should never run without a cat. It is like federal law that you must have one. However, you can buy a high-flow one or gut one out.....if it looks like a cat, smells like a cat, it must be a cat.

I don't want to give any cop the satisfaction of giving me a ticket.

I dont know for sure, but no cat might trip the CEL it does on my car anyway, but on my 1G it didnt. Are 2g's OBD1 or 2 ? Highflow cat will not bring a CEL but is more restrictive.

2Gs = obd2 = can/will trip a CE light if the cat is not there or not working properly

Mine never did this. I just shoved the O2 back up through the floorboard. It seems to be hit or miss with the CEL car to car

I just pulled my bulb ; )

I've been pulled over without the cat and never given a ticket, so I'm not worried about that.

My o2 sensor is in the exhaust still, I don't get any codes for a non-functional cat.

hah...now that I think about it...I have been pulled over 7 times since ive been cat-free and never gotten one either...and one time he even tried to give me a ticket for my exhaust being non-oem. I had to explain to him that it wasnt illegal to have an aftermarket exhaust...he backed down from that but proceeded to to write up a list of other offenses.

u dont need no stinkin cat unless u live in cali or any other state that tests for it -- which from my knowledge ohio doesnt yet -- so put a freakin test pipe in there and be happy -- no restriction is a good thing :thumb

ohio checks for it....ive had firends who have been checked roadside. and if you are in e-check areas..they do a visual check there (not to say that you can't get around that)

btw....is columbus e-checked?

that reminds me, i should register my car in franklin county.

cuyahoga county is an e-check whore, but with AWD they just do some tests at idle and a visual

yeah no cats rule i have never had a cat on my 91 talon. i baught it from the dealer with no cat. so the law isnt that strict. well some one went to auto zone or some where and baught one of thoes pipes that bend any way you want it. but it worked fine so i never touched it. didnt know until i went to change the clutch.

I don't have a cat and I live in cali it just depends on the CHP officer. I've been cited 3 times for having a modified motor and exhaust have paid $450 everytime. It was either pay up or go to the State Referee. Never have a recieved a ticket for not having a cat though. I guess it's a hit or miss thing. You would have to be extremely unlucky IMO.

i got pulled over in cuyahoga county, who does have ECheck, with NO exhaust at all. Warning for speeding. Have a nice day.

Guys, it has nothing to do with e-check. It is law that the cats cannot be removed anytime anywhere.

Federal law states that you cannot even replace the cat unless there is at least 50,000 miles on the car and the cat is non-functioning.

I say good luck to all of you. But don't come crying back here when you are the unlucky one to have a cop check your car and find it missing.

yeah but e-check is another pain in the ass though.. when you have to go and slap on a cat for 15 minutes for a visual inspectoin and sniffer....even though the county 100ft away from my permananent residence doesn't have it

ohio e-check just changed to a computer test if you kick a code you fail. there fore i think they will quit the visual inspection and the sniffer. i live outside summit county so we dont have it but they have it 5 min away I think it is completely pointless

isn't speeding against the law also..who really cares these days..not a whole lot of people care these days..there are only a select few who choose to obey the law..and im not one of them :beer :D
