I am having trouble getting my driver side headlight to defog. It looks so ugly with one clear and clean looking headlight and one nasty yellowish headlight. anybody have any solutions to my problem that might help me fix it? I head like u could drill a hole in the bottom of the lens to help let the air circulate out. I also head that rubbing toothpaste on the lens works or some of mothers mag and aluminum polish works too. ohh well , hope to see some of you dsm guru's solutions posted thanks!

Mind giving out your secret? The rust box needs this pretty badly. Don't try the toothpaste method. Did you use the Mother's Mag stuff?

no i did mine the old fashioned way with 6 different sandpapers and rubbing compound
and lots and lots and lots of water

mothers has worked a little bit on my cruddy lights.

I give up on seeing at night anymore.. and just concentrate on a car that physically moves.

I will post a tutorial on how to polish plastic headlights

It should be uploaded by morning

just a side note you will have like 70 $ worth of stuff left over from your polishing

here is the link forgive the page it was like 5 min. in the making

We tried the polishing compound and it didn't seem to work as well as the Mothers did on our cars...

I think 3m makes some pretty good plastic polish you should try. My friend did his taillights and they look incredible.

I think unless your polishing metal (chrome or something like that) it sucks

I tried polishing compound once :(
Big mistake
except for my rims look great :)

I tried to wetsand mine and then polish them..I jacked them up pretty bad...but then again it was probably my method.....

I would be interested to see if you could clean up a set of 95-96 headlights as well as you did those 1G ones...the 2gs seem to have a little bit of a different problem with the clearcoats

if you have an old ,od or broken one lying around i wouldn't mind seeing (trying) that myself

I just got a replacement set from Taran that need a little cleaning up...I'd almost rather experiment on my current ones....they are REALLY messed up....I used a heat gun to open them up for clear corners...bad idea....it melted stuff ; )
We'll have to meet up next time I'm in columbus and try some different compounds to clean them up.
