I noticed when shifting into 2nd and/or 3rd every once in awhile I get a real quick grind/vibration feeling. Doesn't happen all the time, just every once in awhile? Any ideas?

Your aim is off? Your synchronizers are worn? Your shifters bushings are worn? You do realize your car is 15 years old and your transmission (if original and untouched) should not be expected to work like a brand new one.

This is for the EVO I just got, 2006, should have posted that as well. My bad.

Take it back! Hurry! You have 3 days to return it! (So I have heard)

Looks like it's a common issue on the IX, I can report it to them and have them take a look and fix it if there are any problems. I have a 30 day warranty on it from the time I've purchased it.

Who babies an EVO? Everyone knows EVO's are driven hard and put away wet. If you had video footage of what the previous driver was doing with your car you would probably never buy it. The car probably has seen hundreds of passes down the dragstrip.

Right, but hey might as well use up that 30 day warranty if I can ya know?

beat the crap out of it for 20 days, take it back and tell them the trans is bad and you want to return it or $2k refund. If they give you the $2K you go to shep and get the trans rebuilt.

Yea it has a stock clutch on it still but it still feels pretty good and has a lot of pressure to it.

From just looking at the pics, it looks pretty much unmolested almost to the point of not doing the regular maintenance. Drain the tranny fluid and look for shavings. Would be my first step I think. Might as well do the oil too while you're there.

Yea I think I'm just going to take it in and have them look it over and put some new tranny fluid in to see if that helps. I keep seeing stuff online about AMSOIL MTG and how it has helped EVO's that experience this slight grinding problem. Anyone ever use it here?

From my experience once a grind always a grind. Bandaids just run your warrenty out and screw you in the end.

On the EVO forums I've seen that a lot of people have had this issue, even on brand new EVO's. Guess it's a Mitsu design flaw? A lot of people are saying they just deal with it. Shitty......

Put a real clutch in it or the problem will only get worse.

The clutch in it now really does feel fine, but I think I'd like to upgrade anyways here soon for sure, and yea Kapok I definitely wouldn't put money on it, especially with my car still bein stock lol

Nada. You are definitely faster than me now...my car is sitting in my garage with no motor or trans in it right now. I am trying to get a motor put together and installed by May so I have time to install all the tuning stuff so I can start tuning for the shootout. Last year my car wen through a complete transformation and converted to SD and I literally had 1 day to tune before driving to the shootout. I intend to give myself more time than that this year.

Yea I hope you have more than 1 day this year to get it tuned, what all you have ready to install this year?

Something along the lines of an FP 3065, 6 bolt block, 2g head, ross 8.3:1's, HKS 272's. nothing super awesome...if I can't come up with the money for the machine work though I won't be driving anything ha ha.

It has nothing to do with the car being stock or not. The stock clutch is a POS and doesn't disengage properly (which tears up the synchros). This has been a known issue for 7 years.

Really, well F$$$, thanks for the heads up Mike, sounds like I definitely need a new clutch then.
