Well today I got my car towed out of the Grismer in Hilliard to Dan's parents. Dan replaced the thermostat which, was really destroyed. Then we took off to goto ritters. We didn't make it. We made it to westerville rd where I stopped at the carwash behind carsonies and dan sprayed down my radiator. We then went to the autozone and bought some coolant and a radiator cap. Jump on 270 west to goto ritters. I was fine for a while untill 71. Temp started rising again. Got off at 23n and took my car home. Tommorrow I go to get the coolant flushed to see if that helps. Atleast now my car isn't 20miles away in some POS grismer tire parking lot. If the flush doesn't work its back to the drawing board :(

This may sound dumb and im not saying you havent..... but check your oil.

One time this happened to me. It was because my oil level was so low.

Just a thought.

Which sucks even worse is the fact that you might have blown a HG or warped the head. Might want to do a comp. test after all of this :( :(

ALSO....buy a NEW radiator cap....they have to hold a certain amount of pressure. As the seal gets old it leaks. Higher pressure = a higher boiling point. Leaky cap = lower boiling point and the cooling system will spit out more coolant whne it gets hot.

I put a new one on when my car was 5 years old.

When your car starts to get hot....does the fan come on? I was thinking maybe the temperature sensor was bad and your fan was not coming on.

Oil level is perfect. We put a new radiator cap on last night. Yes the fan comes on when the car gets hot. I'm going to get my coolant flushed to see if the radiator is clogged. If that doesn't help its prolly gonna need a HG.

Just did some more research on the net. Doesn't seem like doing a coolant "flush" is going to solve a clogged radiator.A couple sites said that it shouldn't be called flushing the radiator. It should be called "draning and refilling" the radiator.
Tstat is new,Radiator cap is new, and the water pump is working. So, That narrows it down to clogged radiator or leaky HG.

Why dont you just get a compression test. That will answer your straight away.

I just got back from taking my car to the coolant flush place. They opened the hood and the upper radaitor hose was hard. They said it shouldn't be like that. Especially after a 1.5mile drive. When they started it up it puffed out some white smoke. Looks like either the brand new tstat went bad or I actually do have a blown HG. When I got home I felt the radiator at the top and it was hot. I felt the bottom and it was cold. Do these radiators flow top to bottom or bottom to top? Anyways, I need to get my car out of my apt complex and somewhere where we can work on it. My parents are already screamin for there car back.

Ryan, we're moving into the new place on Monday. We can help you out then. The head gasket swap is pretty easy, it'll take some time tho. Jp can give you more details, but I'm off all day Monday and Tuesday. Let us know if you wanna be B&H Racing's first project :)

That would be a good idea. Its closer than dan's parents house so, I might be able to drive it over there. I would really like to get this thing solved quickly and correctly. My parents and my g/f thats on her way back from FL are giving me a hard time about it. Basically because I told them it would be fixed by this weekend. I really really need my car running good by wed.

Dan and I did a compression check today 147 147 135 135. Seems like the radiator is definatly clogged. I let the car get up to op temp before dan came and my upper radiator hose was buldging. I touched the top of the radiator and it was really really hot. Then I touched the bottom tank and it was ice cold. Were gonna take the radiator out tommorrow hopefully and take it to the radiator place on morse rd.
