I just got my first talon tsi, it's a 92 AWD. I did a compression check the other day and the drivers side cylinder has no compression, the one next to it has 10 PSI, the one next to it has25 PSI, and the passenger side has 50 PSI. This wasn't a true test since I had to turn the engine over by hand, but my compression guage has a hold function that will hold the highest reading of each cylinder. There is a brand new timing belt on the engine, I was wonder ing if this could be from the timing belt being out a tooth or two. I was about to tear the top end apart, but if this could be the problem I may try to reset the belt timing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I figured and hoped it was just the head or head gasket. The engine appears to be bone stock. I may still check to see if the marks line up before I unbolt the head.
Thanks for the info and merry christmas,

I think you should correct problem number 1 of not starting..or at leased get it to turn over so you can get correct clyinder psi readings...

you also have to have the throttle body open while cranking it over...

Thanks for the info, I didn't know about the throttle body thing. I've explained the problem in the car troubles forum under the "Starter spins but won't turn the engine over" topic. I think I need a new starter. Thanks again for the info, you guys and gals are great.

To get an accurate number, the throttle plate has to be open. Also the motor is supposed to be warmed up prior to the check. I don't see how you could get an accurate number bu cranking the motor by hand either. You'll have to get the starter problem first fixed.
