Number 14 on the diagram. It runs near the crank sensor and A/C wiring.

yeah...somewhere down near the fuel pressure regulator you will find 2 different wires that go into the plastic front cover....one is for the crank angle sensor, the other is for the cam angle sensor......i would think the cam angle sensor wire would be the uppermost one.

how bout this:
use the wiring from the 95 cas and not use that sensor anymore and splice into the 97 cas on my head? anyone know what the 3 wires are on both the 95 cas and the 97 cas? where could i get a wiring diagram? satan?

what exactly does the camshaft position sensor do? i know its magnetic. and the end peices of the intake camshaft rotates right beside it. does it not start the car if there is no camshaft spinning? there for explaining my problem with my car not starting because the sensor is dead. :confused

It one of the sensors that lets the ecu know where the engine is as far as the revolution. The ecu uses the info to fire spark plugs, pulse injectors, and set timing. If it goes bad I don't think the engine will start.

my engine isn't starting. you got that right.

Do you have CEL that indicated it was the CAS? 2g CAS's rarely go bad. The 3 wires are simply power, ground, and signal. Have you verifies easier things first like are you getting fuel and spark?

i hooked it up to a OBDII code reader.

update: you can't use a 97 camshaft position sensor with a 95 ecu because the signal from the sensor is different from the 95 sensor. so while installing a newer seven bolt in a older 2g you must have the cam gear from the 95(intake) and the cam shaft position sensor, this way you don't need a 97 or newer ecu. i think this is correct, or my car is totally screwed up.

What I would do if I was you would be to get a 1g CAS and swap it in since there is good documentation on how to do the wiring on all models of 2gs.http://www.roadraceengineering.com/1gcasin2g.htm http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/chopped.asp

well...you once had a 95 motor in that car, just use the cam sensor that came on that original head. If you were lucky enough to use the original head then it is as simple as pulling the timing cover off and installing the sensor & wire. The key thing is the thin metal that is attached to the back of the intake cam gear.

if it is in the same location as a 97 sensor it will not work. the thin peices of metal at the pass. side of the camshaft will give the correct signal to a 97 ecu. you can't take the sensor(95) out unless you remove the camgear, i really don't want to do that because i don't know how to do timing. that is the only way to go that i know of right now. the thin peices of metal on the back of a 95 cam gear is the only correct way to send signal to the ecu(95).

the only reason why 97 and newer have the sensor on the left side head is because mits. realized that replacing the 95 sensor was a pain in the ass :finger . if i had a 97 ecu, i think everything would be ok. would a 97 ecu change anything else?
