I have been looking on line for info on crankwalk, and I have seen the big article about the oil squiters which helped me to understand it a little bit... but I still have one question about crankwalk. Can you get crankwalked if you have an auto tranny? If anyone has any thoughts about this I would appreciate it, cause I have been thinking about throwing some more money at my car, but more mods (from what I've heard) might raise your chances of cw. Just let me know, thanks.

It can happen surely. Its pretty rare tho. Maybe as rare as a 6b having "the walk"

An auto tranny car has a much lower incidence of crankwalk than a manual transmissioned car. The clutch puts load on the thrust bearing which over time can wear and the aformentioned crankwalk may occur. With a torque converter, basically a hydraulic coupling between the motor and tranny your chances are much more slim that you'll have crankwalk. The only "mod" that could contribute in any way to getting crankwalk sooner would be a clutch modification, and you don't have one of those.

I've said it time and again. The oil squirters are not the problem here(IMHO). The problem lies in either poor factory machining, or poor factory manufacturing, and or bearing tolerances from the factory. This is why even a rebuilt motor can walk if care is not taken in measurement and assembly. Outside of Columbus Ohio you'll see many a 7 bolt that is living a long flourishing life. Occasionally even one that's making 450+hp on pump gas.

Hah, what hes trying to say is.. we bring bad luck to the 2G 7 bolt lol

Poor little engines that could

this may be a stupid question, but would a mod like the shift kit and end clutches contribute to cw?

Nothing you do, aside from failing to put oil in the motor will increase your risk.

BEing some what of a pro (only cause i own one) I beleive if you put a tourque convertor in you will have a higher risk of CW, just like anything else if you put more power to it the more likely it could brake.

"brake" = you are a good source for information.

My car was crankwalking before any mods were done to it. And thank goodness that I started modding, otherwise I would have been clueless and I would be constantly be taking my car to the dealership to get raped.

I think he means putting in an aftermarket torque converter in place of the factory one.

Putting an aftermarket TQ in is NOT going to raise your risk of getting cw anymore then the stock one... it will only shift better/accurate.

EDIT: Its there to HOLD power, not make it. As with any clutch.

Just like saying my RPS PP gave me 20hp. ;)

As far as I know the use for a tourque convertor is a better way of getting you horses to the ground. Im probably wrong and was also being sarcastic but i guess i didnt make it noticable enough, sorry if i confused anyone.

Don't be sarcastic in the tech forums. Your posts are confusing and misleading at best. You made it seem like you did not realize that all A/Ts have a torque converter to begin with, hence the yelling in big font. There are other forum sections for that kind of sarcasm.
