Do you have any mod's? Sometimes hesitation could be a hole in the fuel curve. If you have an AFC or something you might want to turn up the fuel a little at the rpm were it does it the most. Otherwise, I would have to agree it is probably the wires arcing on something through the boots. Have seen it a bunch with various wires.

Make sure you didnt remove all the honeycombs from the MAS. I made the mistake when playin around with that and the car would hesitate even stall at times.

I use to get a "hesitation" while on the highway as well. It was because I removed the honeycombs. It was almost more like a jerk than a hesitation. I'd watch the Karmon scale on the AFC and it would spike REAL high during this "jerk". My diagnosis was that it was an instantaneous "fuel cut" happening becuase the Karmon scale was spiking so high.
When I put my honeycombs back in, I no longer had any problems like this.

The honey combs are located in the MAS...in the left front fender well....once you remove it they look...well...just like a bee honey comb...you should check to see if the lower one's are in....if you still can't determine which one's (once you remove it) I can take a picture of mine tomarrow and post....no hole should be without a honeycomb....
Here's a pic of the MAS (honey combs are inside of this)
