What is the moethod of polishing? I was wondering because I would like to polish some of my parts (o2, exhaust mani) and such others. I just hate seeing rust after a month and just having wire brushed it. IS there anything to stop the rust or mirror polish it i thnk its called. Thanks for the info in advance.

never done it, but all I can say is have fun. :) It's a PITA to polish stuff. We polished a hard drive for a computer, and it was a pain. Honestly, if you want it to be polished and look good, talk to Jake. He can hook you up with a guy to do it to near perfection.
I polished an intake once .......................
Pay someone else to do it!!!!

there are coatings for exhausts that can stop your rusting.
if the bling factor is your motivator here...just get new heat shields and polish those up.
I second the comment about asking Jake....word on the street is, he is great at polishing things for other people. :p

if u want shit polished -- honestly i wouldnt do it yourself -- i have friends that do it -- im not saying to just give them your business because they are my friends, im saying ive watched them do it and they have more patience than i do -- i was gonna start doing it w/ them if they got really busy and backed up but fuck that, its too time consuming and a royal pita -- if u wanna do it yourself go right ahead -- but if u want somebody else to do the hard work, let me know and ill get u connected w/ them -- and no sam, polishin isnt gay, it looks good :thumb

Id like to do it myself, But that would give you a mirror shine would it? And its not the bling i just dont want the rust. What stuff can i put on it to stop the rust?

correct me if I am wrong but consider this....unless you are using SS parts, the metal is somewhat porous (SP?) it will always absorb SOME moisture either from the outside or inside .....however, if the car doesnt sit too long, any heat will drive away this moisture.
how bad can this rust problem honestly be on such a large, cast piece of metal that you are will ing to put so much time and/or money into this?

Get your exhaust pieces ceramic coated by Jethot, Swaintec, etc. They'll be more thermally efficient, won't rust, and if you get the chrome-like finish, you can get the "bling" that so many people seem to want.

ok start with 100 grit paper and sand it all in on direction. Then move on the the next girt up (200). with this you want to sand it in a diffrent direction. Untill all the groves from the first paper are removed. then move on to the next grit (300) and do it in the first direction.
do this up to 1200 grit and then hit it with some polish and you are done.
