i believe cams and cam gears will do alot for your 420A i talked to a guy i know that works on the spacific motor and he said u will gain nice HP
but what kinda u should get is completely up 2 u and how deep your wallet is! thumb
see what the other 420A owners have to say

yeha i heard that the gains where good on the cams but i was talkin to a guy this weekend and he said that i would prolly have to go with a larger timing belt and that i would have to cut out around the dust sheild to make them fit cause they stick out just alittle more than the reg. ones.....its all good but if anyone here has installed them or know what all is involved id like some more input to get everything worked out so i know what to do...thanks

lol a larger timing belt?! are u serious!? i got some friends that have dsm and hondas and they didn't have to get a larger timing belt.....maybe he was talking about strip/drag racing cams. but i'm pretty damn posative u don't need that or to cut the cover. ask chad or other members on the board for their info.

your friends retarded. at least with this car you will not have to do that, not sure about others. unless you change the cam gears your still using the same size everything.
as far as cams on an N/A car it will definately improve the output of your engine but your looking at around 7-800 bucks worth of stuff and a lot of time to install them. you have to take off the time belt cover which is a pita , especially for a noob. for the 500+ bucks your spending on those cams i'd just get a nitrous kit. you can safely run a 50 wet shot and its twice the gain you'll ever see w/ cams on an n/a.

yeha i was thinkin the same thing that all the things are gonna be the same...but as far as 700 or 800 plus bucks..what is all in that i think that the cams were like300-400and the gears 200 if that but if i need more than that what all else would i need to install these things...thanks

well depending on your miles i would go ahead and do the timing belt while you in there. prostreetonline has a timing belt "kit" for like 285 or so. i dont know if i'd reuse the tensioner. if your anywhere close to 60k its time for that belt to be redone

also while u got it apart replace the idler pullies for the timeing belt those are known for the bearings to eather lock up or even come apart. a tech i know @ roby mitsubishi told me hes had many 420A's come in for timing belts breaking or coming off and that was that cause.

yeha well this motor was just rebuilt and im only at about 21k on it right now.. all that ya'll are talkin about was replaced...so i think that ill just be ok with just gettin the cams and cam gears and puttin just those on then l8r puttin the other ish on..but i will look into all this...so really all i need now is just the cams and gears and thats all...thanks
