10:05 p.m. EDT May 3, 2004 - Residents in a section of Gahanna have been asked to be on the lookout after police received reports of a large wild animal running in the area, NewsChannel 4 reported.

Gahanna Woods residents and others in the state nature preserve near Taylor Station and Taylor Road were asked to call 911 if they saw what reportedly is an exotic cat the could way up to 400 pounds.

A Columbus police officer reported possibly seeing a lion in that area.

Yeah, Taylor Station and Technology Drive is about a block from where I work. When I came in the morning there were a ton of news trucks and a bunch of what looked like military guys crossing the street at Taylor and Taylor Station. From out back of the office here, I can see at least 3 helicopters flying around and they've been circling over the office here all morning.

I went out and checked the bushes out back here, but didn't find anything.

"cat treats"....should read : small pets

OWNDJOO
05-04-2004, 01:45 PM
yea, small pets, i've got a couple we can use as "bait" but let the kitty get something to eat before the wrestling, you know how those things get tired after they eat. it'll be hard to find that thing, they sleep like 20 hours a day. it's prolly nustled up in a woods somewhere sleepin and eatin puppies.

I heard at work, that it might all be a prank. Someone said that the Gahanna Lions.. had a senior skip day today, and it might be their senior prank. At night, a cop could have fore sure seen a big guy dressed in a lion suit, running around in the bushes. If it is a hoax I will laugh my ass off.... and if it is, props to those seniors.

If you Gahanna folks happen to have a face to face encounter with it, don't turn your back to it and try to run. That's the advice my friend David told us if we were to ever be in that kind of situation. :)

My friend David has lions, tigers, lemurs, and other exotic cats in his back yard. The sanctuary he has for them is nicer than a zoo. I've been there before, it's crazy to be able to touch the tigers and lions. He has raised many of these animals since they were babies. They slept, shit, pissed in his bed, and swam in the pool with him

They have the lion trapped in a section of woods next to the airport (right next to the old 94th Aero Squadron restaurant. Supposedly, the police did see it come out at least once today.

That's an entire different wild animal report...the "cat" is still on the loose.

When I heard this report last night on the news...first thing I thought was "Mike Black is posting this as it's going on".... lol

I thought the same thing when I was listening to the 11 o'clock news saying it was still on the loose. How hard can it be to find this thing?

Here's the big question, has anyone "sighted" the lion since they caught the coyote? What would be funny is if it WAS Gahanna Lincoln's senior prank, and it just so happened that a coyote was wandering around and freaked out people saw the coyote and reported it as a lion.
