mustang GT Vs. My Eclipse...?

ok ok now we all know that NA Eclipses are slow from the start....right?! well then tell me WHY...i was on my way home from work tonight and this GT pulled up next to me and waved bye bye wtf ....so knowing me i just wanted to see what this guy had....popped it into 3rd slitely B4 he did and i pulled half a car on him and then he caught up to me to where i could see the passenger....we eventualy got up to 125-130 before i backed off and i was a head of him by a bumper maybe even a fender.... Owned thats kinda sad though....i was X-pecting to see his tail-lights. then he asked me if i was turbo blahblah ...and i told him nope and his friend couldn't beleive it.
Then @ the light i told him if i was turbo...there would be NO chance that he woulda won... and i took off into the night thumb

:thumb good run, same thing kind of happened to me last night, i was at a light next to some like chevy 3500 or w/e...a REALLY big diesel truck and he looked over and reved his engine, thinking i had some riced out car w/nothing under the hood, light turned green and i smoked him, i dont think he was expecting my turbo to jump to 15psi

These guys down here will try to race you and they are driving full size pickups, or old LTD's. Its really sad. I can't go to Wally World and back without someone trying to take me light to light. As for Mustangs....this was in 93, I was leaving circleville, just been in an argument with my girlfreind, when I got stopped at a the light by KFC. This girl was in the passenger seat of her boyfreinds Mustang GT, when I heard her say "look at that car, is that a Porsche? I wonder how fast it is?" I looked over and said " No its an Eclipse, &*(%% and it faster than your boyfreind Pony Sh@t" :finger .....I know that was mean :rolleyes , and as I thought about it later, she was HOT :Drooling . But I was angered by my girlfriend, and took it out on them. But it felt great, to take off from that light and leave him in my tail lights. I pulled a couple cars on him, then we got to 100 and he backed off, so I downshifted and got in the other lane to pull beside him " TOLD YA". Then I took off again. Luckly there weere no Troopers on 23 that day.

+1 im from Circleville, and it seems like i cant go through town on a friday night without some ricer reving at me or trying to race me, or when the lights turns green they drop the clutch at 5,000 RPM'sand think they beat me because i drive normal!

i think it's POSSIBLE, but you risk running in a lean condition and melting your piston's, hense the reason people buy the 95 dollar 190 FP. but i think i've heard of it happening before, nothing big around 12.98 or somthing like that with stock fuel.

Yeah there is the chance od leaning the car out that is why you run race gas, it should advance his timing, and also rmember he is in a 2g they are a little richer than 1gs from the factory.

if you go into stock "fuel" the "stock fuel system" didnt come with racegas from the factory.;)

Running race gas will not prevent you from running lean.

Holy misinformation thread.

So you guys pay $4-$10 a gallon for this stuff... but you dont even know what it does?

Race gas has a higher octane (obviously). Knock happens when the air/fuel mixture ignite from pressure alone before the piston is at the top of its stroke and the spark plug fires. The higher the octane, all things being equal, the less likely it is to pre-detonate aka knock as it is a slower burning fuel. Obviously by increasing the Intake temp or the ratio of Air to fuel, you increase the chance of detonation.

When the ECU reads knock, it pulls timing to protect the motor. Running race gas usually allows you to run a more aggressive fuel trim without seeing as much or any knock. This allows the ignition timing to "Advance" as much as the ECU allows while observing a non knocking condition. It DOES NOT "Advance" your timing any more than it would had you not been knocking on pump.

That why its rediculous for someone who is not seeing knock on the street to put racegas in his or her car and run the same Boost and fuel trim.
