One of my next projects is to build my own valve spring compressor. I've already got the piece of pipe and the tool. I just need to cut the pipe and find someone to weld it on for me.

Tell Kenny to think hard about he conversation that we had in the garage. The one about he two broken welders laying in the corner. When he told me "if I could fix one I could have it". So I did. I fixed it. I replaced the feed lining, inner tip, and outer tip. As well as fixing the power switch and speed dial. So don't tell me it wasn't broken. If he wants, I can put it back to the state it was in when I got it. I don't know why you can't just pay me for the parts not to mention the labor I put into fixing that welder. It is well worth it. Don't think you are entitled to hold my valve spring compressor hostage either. That tool was purchased by me. With my hard eared cash. I am not trying to be shaddy here. I just don't like when people try to twist things around and go back on their word. I have alot of tools that can and have been very useful to members of this club. I guess we will have to think twice about who we lend things to in the future.

To be totally honest if I were jay i'd take it out of kenny's ass. That is so shaddy its crazy. Think of the parts on your car sam that he gave to you when his baby went up in smoke moment of silence I have never ever had any problems with anyone in that household and i'd consider myself a friend of all of yours but thats bullshit and you know it. To go from letting Jay borrow the 1.8 and store his car there to this is just beyond me. How do you really do this to a friend? Sad, truely.

What Kenny told me (back when Jay "barrowed" the welder: The welder did work-and I know that it did because Kenny was using it all the time on his many projects around here. Yes, we do have 2 other welders that I offered to Jay to have with the return of Kennys. Now yes, there were some problems with the welder-but it did work and from what I understand Jay offered to fix it because he knew how. Kenny was not under the impression that Jay was fixing it only to charge Kenny for parts and labor. He was under the impression that Jay was fixing it because he was going to be using it for awhile. This welder has been gone since last year with many uses on it and he feels that "fixing it"....well, it's had it's moneys worth. Paying $50 to fix a welder that you've used since last summer should have been worth the money to do so. He said he had no idea that he was going to have to pay to have it fixed and thought that Jay had done some work to it for using it. Putting $50 into fixing a welder and getting all the use out of it is a hell of a lot cheaper than purchasing one.
Chad-as for the parts that Jay gave to Sam off his car (RIP), they were all parts he said he didn't want, couldn't sell and were messed up. He told him if you can do something with them and fix it then you can have it because he didn't want or need them. And yes I consider Jay a good friend...yes I let him barrow the 1.8 to drive and store his car at my house for weeks while the neighbors complained until it was picked up. I never ask for any money for car rental or storage because friends don't do that. Just as I thought friends wouldn't barrow something for this long and fix it to their standards so that they can use it as much as they want and turn around and charge the owner for it. The entire situation isn't making any sense to me at all.
I will get Kenny to go get the part-I will pay Jay the $50 for the welder out of my pocket and I guess everyone will think twice about lending out items anymore.
I'm not taking anyone's side on this...both sound Shady to me...think about it...

From the way it looks back here we have two very different stories. I dont know kenny and I certainly won't get all judgemental. I know jay very well, i'd go as far to say he's one of my best friends in columbus. In the time i've known him i honestly have never seen one shaddy action out of him. If he tells me the part was broken and Kenny stated it was no good to him and he could have it then I have to believe him. If Kenny's under the impression he was getting the part back then thats something him and jay need to work out. The compressor was not loaned to him by the owner, but by a borrower. It should be returned to him no questions asked. He has said that he was willing to give the welder back if hes paid for the parts he used to fix it. Sounds like you guys have a conclusion to the situation. Its time we move on with our lives. Tools have been loaned and will continue to be. We are friends and thats what friends do.

Just wanted to add my .02 to a few last things that were said.

Yes, the welder worked...I confirmed it with Kenny...he had just used it a month before to work on his gocart he built.
Was there a piece that was broken-yes, it was the inner tip-which there was another one there, but it still worked.

Just to clarify on this welder-IT'S NOT EVEN HIS...so why would he give it away? It belongs to his friend Cliffie down the street. Kennys 2 welders didn't work so Cliffie let him barrow his. Why the hell would he give it to someone when it wasn't his to begin with? He let Jay use that one because that was the one that worked.
Also, I spoke to Jay months ago about this and returning it...never once was it mentioned that Kenny ever told him he could have it if he fixed it. He just mentioned that he put some work into it and needed the money for fixing it. I myself had brought up the other 2 welders-if he wanted one of those, he could have one. Doesn't make any sense to give someone a welder that 1) isn't yours 2) was working when you used it last 3) tell him if you fix it you can have it??-who wouldn't want that...welders are expensive.
As for Kenny barrowed it from a barrower-No, Jay let Kenny barrow it-then John used it for his car at Mike C's, then Kenny got it back.

Either way, there was some miscommunication...on's who's part, I don't know...I do know that Kenny did use it prior to Jay barrowing it and I do know if Kenny said something about Jay having one to fix and keep...he wasn't referring to that one that isn't even his, he was referring to the 2 broken one's in the garage that he pointed out to Jay at the time...

I guess you missed my point. Your assistance in the past was a gesture of friendship and i'm sure Jay is very appreciative. Weither or not you want to be involved you are, hes in your household and you see/talk with him daily. If it was a misunderstanding then leave it at that. There are some details that need worked out but it looks like theres resolution at hand.

This is retarded. Go buy a big C-clamp, weld a socket onto the side you'd like to make contact with the spring and clamp the other end on the valve side of the head. A couple twists and pop off the retainer and release the spring.

This kind of junk needs to stay off the board somehow or keep it in the private section. After reading all the back story to this bullshit I still can't see who has the damn thing. Nor do I care.......ah well. DSM's are junk anyways. I need something built Ford tough.
