911 Carrera

Ran into a newer model 911 Carrera with a body kit of some kind tonight.

First time we ran, he was behind me as I came onto 270 on an on-ramp. I hit it in 2nd gear and put about 5-6 cars between us by 100mph.

Next time we ran was as we were getting on 71S. He was behind me. I merged over to the fast lane to get a clearing. He got a clearing 2 lanes over from me and he hit it. I let him get about 3 cars on me before I dropped it in 3rd and began to reel him in. I got back up to within a car of him and stayed there due to a car up ahead in the clear lane. I kept my distance till I hit about 120 then let off. He kept going. He probably thinks I hit a speed limiter or something. LOL!

Anyway, he did get caught in some traffic and I rolled up next to him. He threw me a wave and seemed to be a good sport.

Power mods are an airlid and a cat-back. That's why you see me say *almost stock*.

exactly jamie. i could say the 1g is ALMOST STOCK and it runs 2 seconds faster than stock. exhaust and intake mods make a big difference on cars.

Ok, let's split hairs.

Yes, my car is modified. I never said it was completely stock. However, a lid and cat-back doesn't do much for these cars HP wise. Lid is at most 10 and cat-back maybe 8. N/A is a little different than a turbo car. All the power in an LS1 (when going the N/A route) is had through headers, cam, and heads.

I'm not hiding anything, read my sig jackasses. That's why it's there.

Besides that, if my car was completely stock, the outcome would of been no different. It would of been about 2 less cars.


My car in its current state *should* be around 335rwhp with the addition of the cat-back. I'll find out soon enough.

If you consider that over rated, then you have a problem being open minded when it comes to cars.

Oh, but wait, you drive an SRT4 that is capable of trapping 113 or so. Yep, you can beat every *stock* LS1 on the road from a roll. I get the impression from your other posts that you are quite biased against V8 cars.

Don't feel bad when you run across a LS1 with a couple bolt-ons and it rips you a new one. I can hear the response now, "but he has a V8!" I suppose that turbo hanging on the side of your engine means nothing.

BTW, I'm not a V8 muscle car guy by an means. I'm very open minded when it comes to any car that's quick. What I don't like is some of the people that drive them and the disrespectful, holier than thou attitude.

If LS1s are sooooo over-rated i wonder why a group of dsm guys wanted nothing to do with racing a stock Z28 from a roll last night? Granted, it is a bit of a "factory freak" car compared to other LS1s if seen/ran but still. If it's weak that we don't like to street race, then I guess the 5 of us there are weak. After seeing what my car would do last night, I'd put it up against just about anything, but I don't race on the street. He is pursuasive :p Just met the kid a couple weeks ago when he asked Brett and Ricky to race and they couldnt believe how quick it was for a stock LS1. Pretty nice guy actually--he just likes to race anyone/everyone and doesnt care much about losing (odd these days).

I personally dont have any problem with someone saying they dont street race. I was just a little amused with bench racing someone elses car that wasnt even there--which is why he was so persistant with you. Before you got there they threw out your car as willing to run whenever you showed up and how fast you were etc etc.

In the last "sat night" flame war, I gave a series of extreme examples that did not occur, just so i could make a point and deter individuals from falling into such a scheme. In the few days i've been out of town it seems that all of my ficticious possibilites have come true.

If your so gonna go on about past posts then I encourage your to go way back into the previous posts say summer time of 2001 when I was on this forum and had a supercharged 93 mustang gt. Back when I was looking to be a young prick and pick on people with way less displacement, I can remember the arument that Kon---turbo gs or Chris Matney (sp ?)with the spyder both at the time were so ready to run, then I sold the car, the v8 excuse is way overused, I in my 200+ times at NTR have never ever seen a ls1 STOCK run a 12 even on slicks nor have any ever came close to a 110+ trap as you have perclaimed in your posts. There are several other cars that can kill mine, I am not bias as you put it, I simply wonder how some people get their big head in thier cars and Im not directing that toward you, but it does apply to some forum members on here. If you have somethign personal against srt4's then so be it, or if you have something against mine fine, but dont make assumptions based on logical arguments, not everybody loves the ls1 but that doesnt mean they dont repect if it proves itself and in stock form I do not think it does that, hence I dont think so it is my opinion. His only mod is a K&N filter--thats it. He came to the shop a couple weeks ago asking about some ghetto cut-out possibility so it doesnt even have that yet. John's Z28 is as stock as it gets, except the K&N drop-in. It's a factory freak for sure. I'm not quite sure why you think you are such a billy badass on and off the forum. You'll have to find someone else to rant about after June 10th because he'll be going back Omaha, Nebraska for the summer until school starts back up in the fall. John hangs out with us all night on the weekends, and I've never seen him prey on DSMs once they leave. It's clear that no one on Cols. DSM will street race unless they know for sure they can beat it. Or else just say, "ya'll don't have anything worth our time."

To top it off, some of your DSM peers bench raced your car again this weekend. Ricky asked if any of them wanted to race, and someone says, "too bad MIKE isn't here, he'd..." You get the point. :)

I think you need to take a step back and enjoy the hobby a little, you are taking everything way too personal. Your cortisol levels are probably through the roof.

Our Car club is well known in the columbus area. Almost as much as cols racing. we like the idea of keeping it at the track to avoid bad media. Cols racing was called out by the dispatch a few months ago for this very reason. WE DONT WANT THAT HERE. this is why we keep that philosiphy. if that is what you want you wont find it here. If I personally see a publicly announced orginazed street race in the future I will get very gay and just start banning people. At this point i dont care.

Ever launched a high-horsepower (450+) light AWD car? Most people that claim it's easy, haven't. It AIN'T easy. There's a VERY fine line between bog and wheelspin...and you've gotta dance that line. My 350rwhp 6sp Z28 was CAKE to launch compared to my DSM.

I guess i was just a litte tired of this thread any its endless bs bickering. I think we should all hit up Kahoots and knock back some canadian beer for an evening and forget about our e-peni. I've raced a few guys that I know darn well would beat me, my ego is not that fragile and i just dont give an f. Would i run a vet that traps 120ish in the 1320, hell ya, just to see how close i'd stay with him and to say i did. I understand my cars limitations and came to the reality that dsm's aren't the fastest things ever made. We've all seen viper killing civic hatch backs and mustangs that loose traction when down shifting at 70mph. Theres always someone faster. Just enjoy what you own/mod and have fun with the hobby.

Ken, there is no problem with the Cols. DSM board. I think the debates are about the bench racing going on by particular members. It's not being taken care of off the board, so it's bleeding it's way back online.

Reasons you're a tool based on this thread:
You think LS1's are over-rated, when in fact most were under-rated from the factory when you look at rear wheel hp vs. flywheel hp.

You said I was going on about past posts, I have no clue w.t.f. you're talking about.

You said the V8 excuse was overused, where did I use any kind of V8 excuse?

You seem to think that if you don't see a car turn a certain number/mph with your own eyes, then it can't happen.

You think I have something against SRT-4s. I actually have a lot of respect for them and Dodge for bringing a car like that to the market.

You don't have to love the LS1. It has already proven itself over and over in stock form. Oh, but wait, YOU didn't see it do it PERSONALLY so it must not be capable of turning the times quoted in my earlier posts.

I have no problem with any SRT4's, what I do have a problem with is close minded TOOLS that drive them or any other make/model of car.

I would be glad to run you. I have no problem losing to a faster car. Only thing it will prove is that you can beat a lid/cat-back LS1 with your full bolt-on(or whatever mods you have) SRT4.
