my dad and i just did the water pump on my talon today, not fun at all :nono ....i have the haynes manual, and followed what it said...our biggest problem was with getting the timing belt back on....it runs fine up to around 4-5k rpm....i dont think its the valve timing cause it doesnt miss.....but it shakes and rattles really bad at 4-5k, balance shaft???...we alligned all the timing marks up before we put the belt on....but i also took the AC belt and tensioner off....could this cause a hard vibration???.....i'm thinking about getting the balance shaft removal kit if its the cause of the problem

Sounds like the rear balance shaft is out of phase. VFAQ will show you the proper way to check it. You'll need to redo the t-belt to get it back in phase though :huh
