Ok. i have an extra intake manifold (upper and lower) And throttle body. I would really like to port and polish them asap... like in time for the shootout. After tuesday i have a full week of free time and a dremel tool. Before i go and scrrew anything up are there any sugjestions from you guys? Also if anyone wants to help me out or just learn how to do it with me you are more than welcome to come out. also what wire brushes would you recomend?

carbide bits.
and a normal dremel will take you hours just to make a dent in it.

I wouldnt touch the TB. Porting the upper and lower.. Im not sure how much of a gain you would see actually. Maybe just smooth things out a bit and that would help. :)

Porting your intake mani will give you very minimal gains with a 1G mani. no need for carbbide bits as the mani is aluminum. And you dont want it mirror smooth either. Intake runners should remain rough to create turbulance for better atomization of the fuel , granted this is not so much as a big deal as in the head itself...but why waste the time.if you really want to do this with a dremel....get the roto zip (drillbit looking bits) fomr the HW store....they pull away aluminum very quickly. then clean up your poritng with the heavy grit sanding drum....and id say be done with it then....dont port too far...go just to the gasket (gasket matching).

Brad, if you are set on porting the intake manifold, do as JP described in his post. Also, the intake mani is pretty thin cast aluminum, so you don't want to port too much. You might just want to port match the intake manifold runners (port out to the gasket outlines), that should be good enough.
As for the TB, how are you going to port that? Be careful because you wouldn't want any leakage around the TB plate.

yeah...stay away from the tb...that would be good to over bore it...the easiest way to do it is get a bench vise and clamp that beast in there, sit your gasket on top and use a scratch awe or something to mark wher the edge of the gasket is and port to that mark...you'll see minimal gains being n/t but its free right, just takes a little time to do...i have a few small things to do before the shoot out too.....need to replace my tre probe damn it, broke on me

now now I wouldent say minimal gains... its pretty modest its not like HOLY SHIT this was the best thing ever or n e thing like that.. it helps up top alot! thats for damn sure.. but other than that its still pretty neat to tell ppl you have ported stuff hhahah and yeh dont touch the TB send it away or just buy the new one :) thats like 60 mm anodize in like 3 colors.. that way when you port the intake mann you can port the shit outta the TB spot and actually get the gain you should :)
