never had this till recently...very odd backfire and stutter at hagh RPM. stock fuel...16 psi. I am thinkin plugs/wires, and or boost leak.

sooo...im checkin for a boost leak soon but i reaally dont wanna buy a set of good wires...
SOOO....im looking into a coil on plug setup. and quite possibly a way to remove the "wasted spark" of the 2 coils. I have heard the you can cut the stems of a 300M coil and wire them righ in... anyone?

did you test the resistance of the coil to see if thats what it may be?

I would think that even a DIY coil on plug setup will cost you as much as a set of Magnacores. There is a massive 7 or 8 page thread on Tuners about DIY COP. I'm pretty sure they do use 300m coils.

You can borrow my wires when we get to the bowling alley JP, you can make some pulls and see what happens. If you dont have another set laying around that is.

I had the same problem racing that SS the first time. High RPM stutter, car fell on its face. I had some nasty looking plugs and cycl 4 plug well filled with oil. You dont happen to have oil in any spark plug wells do you? Most likely not.

If you dont have a leak tester, Mike Whitslow has mine currently, bug him for it :thumb

Mike C...i can get the coils for $40 for all 4...wish is half the cost of magnas...the wiring is very easy. where did you see this done...i saw it a while back and have serached through google for 3 days now trygin to find it again.

Ya I had the same thing JP. My shiz was COVERED in oil :eek It was discusting to look at even.

Try and seal things up again up top. When you pull the plugs off, lemme know if you have oil down in the wells there.

+1 on the 300M coils. I ran across it on DSMtalk as well. I'd give you a link, but my laptop died :(

oil is GOOD....it keeps things from rusting like the outside of the engine block and all steel parts around the block....it coats the underside of the car and helps the car slip through the air faster....that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Might I add that you may want to track the underlying problem before throwing money at it :p

did a lil lookin my oil leaks like crazy but not in the plug holes...weee.
and after inspection of the plugs i see im runnig a touch rich, as usual. but after drving my car after i put everythign back i noticed the stutter wasnt as bad....so i really think its either a boost leak or...the plug wires. cause they looked like shit.
