13.233 @ 107.91 1.711 60' (beat that!)
Car of course shifted like shit, most runs I was struggling very much to get the car into second gear grinded it in every time. One run i missed 2nd third and fourth. Once i get my tranny fixed and get some serious tuning done i'll be pretty deep in the 12's i think.

Best et, 14.023 (for the love of god)
Best mph, 106 something
Egts looked nice after a few runs and playing w/ my injector scaler a bit. Decided at the end of the night to mess with timing. O yeah, there is no advance feature on my dis2, only boost retard. Sucks ass, however i did discover that i was playing with my dis2 last year and had it retarding timing 4*'s starting at 16psi, that would put me at 13* of advance, no wonder i lost 4 mph from last year. Set the timing feature back to default, no help from the box, and picked up nearly 2mph. I managed to run a handful of 14.1's and .2's most at 103.somthing mph. Fixed the dis2 and started trapping 104-105 something. Jarod owes me a nickel but I owe that to dale so you owe him, isn't that the way things go around here :)
I had a lot of fun and enjoyed grilling until my eyes were watering shut and there was no hair left on either hand nearly to my wrists. We went through all that food, dear lord. That was nearly 150 bucks worth of bbq, hope everyone enjoyed though. Thanks all that came out and supported the club, it was really cool of everyone.

Don't think that I broke anything but I did stop racing my EVO, it just would not go into 2nd gear on the track. Something is wrong with the Mustang it 1.5 seconds and 5mph slower than the last time I raced it. Thanks to everyone that organized this event I had a very good time.:beer

I felt really bad for you Dale. Your car was definately the worst victim of the traction issue. The icing on the cake for me was when the NTR fucker sprayed the VHT down for the first time at the end of the night for the 440 Cuda. All in all, a very shitty job done by NTR.

Talked with my friend with the brown mustang, transmission is leaking oil now. Either the seal in the back of the transmission is shot or the cone on the back of the transmission is cracked. Guess its not just DSM's that can break. BTW his best was a 14.9 @ 94 mph.
Bill's car (purple Mustang) ran a 10.24 @ 136mph. He is still searching for the 9's, with more traction he might have come closer. I loved the smoky burnouts, even chocked on the first one because I was right next to the car when he did it.
They both expressed their thanks for allowing them to come out and play. Everyone was courteous, even though we weren't all driving DSM's.
Thanks Again,

Just wanted to say thanks. I had a good time. Chad, the food was good. And the show everyone put on was great. I got to meet a few of you. Matt thanks for putting names with the faces for me. I'm hoping to get to a few of the meeting in the future, and the shootout this year. Maybe I'll get to bring my car. Just in case you are going....he was there? I was the fat guy in the Speed Channel shirt that was taking a lot of pictures and driving the Security Engineering work truck.
I was watching most of the night though, and after they started announcing times 2 2G's and 2 1G's made 12+ sec runs...nice. Everyone else ran good in the 13's at 104. And even the stock guys seemed to run good. The vet was running 11's, and when the Cuba could keep it straight it was in the 11's.
I'll post some of my pics later, after work. Have to do it again:beer

from what jp told me, there is an upgraded pulley that started in the 97 that help keep it from coming off track. But what is weird is, manda's is a 97-up and it did the same to her. My last run I launched hard and that thing just came off.

I think my best was 13.4 at 107 MPH. 60' was 2.2, I pretty much suck at drag racing will stick to road course racing.

Sorry to hear about the tranny Mike, that sucks.
For my first time out I'm very happy with the POFS. My launches got a little better as the night went on. My last one was my best, I actually felt the LSD for the first time, at least thats what I think it was. MY best run was a 14.91 @ 90.84 60' 1.91. I had 3 runs around 14.9 and the rest low 15's. Not bad for stock and 166K miles.
I'm just happy I didn't go home on a tow truck. Thats last launch scared me a little.
Thanks to all for setting this up. It was nice to see everyone helping each other out.

Honestly, a good launch tends to scare a lot of us. That's how you know it was good. :) I didn't have a good launch all night, my best 60' was a 1.8 I think, I'd have to check the slips. I'd either bog it, or spin the tires. Personally, I thought the prep was worse than MCIR was, at least there I was pulling 1.7's.

Thanks so much for throwing such a great day-get together. It was farking hot and I had to listen to the youngin whine all day, but hey, I still managed to enjoy myself. Many thanks to Chad-our designated chef. :D
I was a little upset that the times weren't being shown. They should have at least been announcing them like they did later that night. Thought that was kinda crapy on their part after we paid all this money to rent the track. But, other than that, it turned out great and I can't wait to do it again.

Fun time! I'm glad to have made it out with everyone. I've cooped up in the house too long:)
After 5 runs I had to call it quits. The car was running way too rich (.99V, 1350 egt @ 6500 rpm:( ) I shouldn't have added 110. The car was bucking and popping because it was rich, and I could only see 14-15psi, so I might also have a boost and/or vacuum leak somewhere. Car idles at ~10 in Hg; it should be around 18-19 in Hg.
Best: 14.3 @ 97 mph w/20G @ 15psi...13.8 @107 w/16G @ 18psi :( Damn POFS car:)
Great time at the outing, depressing performance/issues with the car.

...I found the problem. Looked under the hood and traced along every ignition and vacuum lines, and I found the vacuum hose to the MAP sensor for the Accel DFI was blown off, thus leaving a big leak; that also caused a vac leak for the MAP sensor for my ignition, since they were hooked up in inline (but the hose was still connected to that MAP sensor.) After everything was secure, I turned up the boost and took it out for a test drive.
OMG! What a difference! At 24-25 psi, and 110 race gas, the car pulled like a mofo. That makes me so mad, since I wanted to run this boost level at the track yesterday.

I pulled the tranny last night but ran out of time to open it up. 4th gear is gone though and something is rattling around in there. I drove the car home from the track shifting from 3rd to 5th and everything else seems fine (except for the clunking and lack of 4th).:(

Yuck, 4th gear must be junk in these things, the only two real fast DSM's that were running last year both stripped 4th gear last year. I take it this happened well down track then.

I think so but it was suspect before. When I got off the offramp at the freeway, the Bean was riding shotgun. I downshifted to 4th during decel and the was a weird whining sound coming from the passenger front. The Bean at the time said "It sound like you've got a bad CV joint or something" I dismissed it as a fluke and couldn't reproduce it but I'm guessing it was on its way out and the No lift to shift use for the first time polished it off during the 3-4 shift.

4th gear also went in my car first. but that was becuase i let gunner borrow my car after he busted his rearend and the cholo was trying to pass a semi's and minivans on the birm and mis-shifted. that's what happened right? you can admit to it now since it's almost 2 years later

Tuning is easy... i reinstalled my safc the week before and installed the boost controller the day before the event. I set it close to what i had my old safc at and did a couple butt dyno 3rd gear pulls and i was trapping at 107-108 at the track.

I wouldn't call tuning easy. I'm not being a jerk, but only giving constructive criticism. You can certainly get alot more trap out of it. Use Ken's car as a comparrison. Before he used the spray I think he was trapping 111? He's still on stock cams. I trapped 109 with my 16g on a stock 2g head. I think you did great out there with your car for the first time but I think you'll continue to get more out of it. How much boost were you running that night?

Get a logger, not a stupid EGT gauge. Especially on a 1g where you can see everything you need, its a no brainer.

I trapped 113 as a best pre spray. 6 MPH is a huge difference... and my "Tune" was very light... since I dont know what i am doing.
You may remember I have a dinky, beat up, supra smic... and some stock cams. If you were a true tooninator, you would have at least out trapped my somewhat average times.

A typical EGT setup runs around $150. You can buy a used Palm for next to nothing and the pocketlogger cable runs around $175

I didn't say tuning for maximum power is easy but with an egt it isn't so incredibly hard to do that you're gonna blow up your car. I would have had a few extra mph on my trap if i hadn't taken a half second on every shift. I'm also sure that there is a bunch of extra tuning to be done on the car too. I was only running 22 psi on race gas, and a safe tune.
