Hundred Bucks: Neo Fest

I finally made my hundred bucks. It wasnt, however, calling out ricer kids in the parking lot.

I won the Quick 4 class at "NeoFest". The top four consisted of myself, MIKE, the Slowmotion integra, and the IPS Nissan 350Z that put down ~550hp.

I quallified first with a best of 11.75 to the Zs 11.76. Mikey and the teg quallified in the middle. I faced mikey and in a move sure to cause years of spite, bumped him. The Teg faced the Nissan and took advantage of one of the Zs poorest runs of the day and near run in with the wall.

In the finals I faced the Integra who got a lil jumpy and got a red light. I didnt know that so I raced like it was the finals... which it was. I pulled a .032 reaction time (on the pro tree) and got my best run of 11.745 @ 116.61.

I got my money and a lil trophy. Good times.

It was a very long day. I got there a bit after 12 after preping the car for a few hours. I almost didnt pass tech because of my not so hot battery box and cheesy kill switch.

All in all Id say having the fastest import made it a fun day. Had I botched the last run I probably would have cried after having dedicated that much time.

wondering: what the teg run?
wait. which one was it, the black or white one? actually, theres 2 black ones.
1 is a slowmo member, it has a FMIC, but stock body.
one has a body kit (he was the one u prolly raced) but he is just a slowmotion customer.
i cant wait to see the slowmo white teg, that things gonna be pretty fast.

They werent even planning on running and almost took the class.

yeah, corey is decent driver. hes doing some work for my turbo hatch later on this summer/fall.

i cant wait till their shop opens up, ive seen pics and it looks good. they have one of those carbon fiber intake manifolds, they look sweet, not sure how the perform (i guess heat transfer is like minimum to none with them).

Good job Ken! I saw that run, nicely done.

I layed the smack down on a 04 si . Also did 15.9 @ 87 on my first and last runs. It was a pretty good time. Vipers are crazy, especially ones that do single digits.

I have some video that I will try to post up. The only issue is that he quality is shody as hell. I was using a my digital camera (Sony Cybershot) to take video... and it cant zoom while it is recording. So you really cant see them times clearly... as well as the general poor video quality.

Unfortunately, my first pass proved to be the fastest.

the day got progressively fustrating, trying to make adjustments, adapting my launch technique to the pro tree, and getting my boost to a respectable level. I'm happy... I drove 130 miles to race, ran a handful of low 12's and drove back home 130 miles, with no hiccups.

Somehow after nearly a year passing since Ken raced his old setup, he learned how to cut a tree, launch even with bad track conditions, and consistenly drive his car well. Congrats to him. But i'm kicking myself harder as each day goes by, for selling him that nitrous kit.

I was real happy about the nice cool air we had for the finals, because I knew the heat soaking wonder would be making much better power then it had during the hot afternoon. However, I wasn?t happy at all with the lack of traction throughout all of 2nd, which as Ken mentioned got me much closer to the wall then I was comfortable with. So after unsuccessfully trying to bring the car back in line a few times, I finally decided just to shut it down and keep the shiny side up. My launch sucked ass too, but I am pretty sure I would have caught that teg if I didn?t have to puss out. BTW, it?s a 300ZX. ;)

There was an orange 350Z there, but I think it ran high 14's, which isn't too uncommon for one that is stock and an auto. Nissan should be ashamed of themselvs for not releasing a factory TT model. :o
