Ill post my opinion in a bit...

how'd it rate?

I liked it. It didn't cost me anything this year. I didn't have to pay any fees to enter the track. I didn't have to spend a single cent on fuel for my car to go up there. And I didn't get sunburnt either considering I did not use any suntan lotion.

:D

Overall I had a great time. The weather was pleasant, until the showers, and I only got minimal sun burnage. I was a little disappointed that Shep wasn't there, the big stealth kids weren't there. There were some very fast Evo's there, that was pretty cool. The white Evo 6 was badass. The car catching fire interesting, luckily the guy came out w/o a scratch.

To be honest friday and saturday night made the event such a great time. Seeing that little town filled w/ dsms and all the craziness of the econolodge made this shootout a good time. Paying this little asian dude 15 bucks to jump in the hotel pool at 2 am in 30* weather was a great investment. We all made it home from the shootout this year on our own w/ no major problems so thats definately a plus.

I think separating the saturday import deal took a lot away from the event as a whole.

I missed drews camper and trailor and the cook out last year.

I was sad that the fastest car there was in the mid-high 9s. No 8s or 7s like last year.

I was sad that oil was bellowing out of every orifice of my car.

How did it end up anyway? I left after the track was oiled down. I assume the rain took over and it got cancelled with no winners?

Heh...which time? It took over a half hour to get the first one cleaned up, and then they got in 3 or 4 races. I think one of which was Evo Eliminator and one of the guys red lighted. Then on a Q16 run the blue talon blew up and left oil all the way down the track and some debris at the end. I walked out to the parking lot for a minute and it started pouring so I left.

I had a good time. I was definitely dissappointed though. Seems like there was a good turnout, but there weren't as many fast cars as last year. There were a few more 9-10 second 1g's last year. Plus Buschur's car broke, Shepherd wasn't there, I didn't see a single thing from Extreme this year, and I was hoping that Wegman's car might be there.

The Evo's were about the only saving grace for me. It was nice to see them running such good times.

I had a much better time at the last one. Oh well, hopefully it'll be better next year.

Overall I had a nice time. But going without a dsm and seeing my friends having fun with the sound of spooling turbo's in my ear, makes it hard for me not to get another one to have some fun! All the way home I was thinking of ways that I could turbo my galant, and I might think that it may be a possibitly. I am going to try and locate a lot of 1g stock parts and get something together so I can have some fun!

It was nice seeing everyone from columbus dsm there cant wait for next years shootout :)

Thanks,
Dan

There were good things and bad things in my opinion. The lack of the Saturday points race kept the fast cars away, which was sad. However, it was nice to really have a lot of time to just hang out with other DSMers. The Econolodge is always a happening place, it was 2 years ago, we did burnouts and things back in the back. But the mandatory burnouts upon arrival Friday night, I wish I would have been over there to see that stuff.

All in all, for possibly my last shootout, I had a great time. There were several things I would have liked to have done, like go to PIB or race in the SO, but that's ok.

I had a good time. I enjoyed the Saturday night at the hotel, I was entertained by the chop stix master getting his keys. The racing was fun to watch being the first time I have sceen a 9 second car before. Overall, I say it went well and would love to go next year.

Nice job brian on going four (?) rounds in bracket 2 :beer

not compared to last year. last year seemed to be more people and faster cars.

Yeah, it helps to catch the ice cream stand as it opens. :) The line was so long the rest of the day.

I was fairly dissappointed in the racing aspect of the Shootout this year. I really thought Shep and Rau would be there since the NOPI race was hurricane'd out.

It is becoming clear that Dave Buschur is losing his grip on the DSM/monopoly. There are regional "Shootouts" popping up around the country and it seems like its starting to lose its luster. I fear that the event may continue to go downhill if Dave doesn't wise up and make some shop changes and schedule changes.

The drive up Sunday morning was nice, and it looked to be an awsome day for racing but like everyone else said cars kept on breaking and some didn't even show so last years was in my opinion better despite the fact of the kid backing out of selling me his full leather interior for 225  . I did think this years parking lot was much more impressive, it seemed like everyone had a fmic and there were alot of cars that had some cool fabrications. All in all i had a good time and can't wait for next years, only 364 days left :D

This was my first shootout and I had a great time. That car catching on fire was crazy. Its awesome to see so many people with the same interest! That right hand drive evo running a 9 second was awesome! All in all it was a good time never seen shep run before so I was kind of hoping to see him run but thats cool.

I had some fun at the shootout also. Mostly it was just nice to see where everyone is with their projects and catch up on the new mods. Overall it was an OK time. The actual racing blew though. It was my first shootout and I was hoping to catch Shep and some fast guys out there. It wasn't much different than a NOPI event except there were DSM's instead of Hondas. My friend from Houston flew up to see it. Spent a ton of money to come up and watch 3-4 fast cars. Hopefully next year will be better.

his name is adam, he has more than a "bit" of an accent. I think its russian, since he was ranting about how stuck up polish people are and that was my second guess.

That dude is a bigger instigator than I am. I didnt think that was possible.

i just really thought this year sucked. it was soo much better last year with the import nats. on sat. it made the shootout like an entire weekend. i was there friday, saturday, and sunday last year. making runs all 3 days. there were sooo many more people there last year too.

This year, the shootout was all about FWD's and EVO's.

It was all good for me. I wish I had my car there though.

I had fun Saturday night... except for Ken suplexing(sp) me. That hurt. But I don't remember most of it. I was a little dissappointed in the cars, not as much of a turnout as I thought... but oh well, it was still awesome to see that many DSM's in one place. I wish I could have ran my car...

The hotel was fun also... you have Brian, Drew, and Shea fighting over blankets. Marc sleeping through it all. Chris and Ben just trying to sleep. Jarod trying to get everything started. And me just trying to sleep also. Rooming with 7 guys.... interesting.. lol lol lol :thumb

Ha, his little monkey ass jumped on my back twice and i continued to walk an additional 15 yards or so with him still on my back. Ha, then mop head was to slow to chase my fat ass down until we made a lap around the hotel and my awsome shape started to take its toll. :) I had to do something to make this weekend memorable.

Last year was better when combined with the Sport Compact Nationals.

However, I was able to witness DSMs kicking on the windshield wipers during the 1-2 shift in person. :beer

This was my first year at the shootout and I was in awe of the tons of DSMs. Tons of beautiful cars cruising around town and at the strip.

I thought it was pretty awesome, just wish I would have stuck around longer.

It didnt seem like the cars were ultra quick but Im thinking that it had must have been the weather or something because everyone seemed a little slow.

All in all great time! Look forward to next year!

The NOPI race was still a go until Sunday when they called the race due to rain.

Adam is polish, and you guys have no clue how crazy he really is. Saturday was nothing really. Oh and it is an EVO 2, an ex rally car that TAD used to run.

I had a blast, the racing was kind of lame due to everyone blowing up. If there is a next year, it should be much better. The hotel was a frickin riot, from what i remmebr of it. I remeber seeing a few of you there. I hope Mikey is feeling better, I feel pretty bad for that.

I didn't enjoy the shootout this year compared to last year. Last year was a blast I guess because of going up friday and staying all weekend at the track in Drew's motorhome. I wasn't even sure I was going until the last minute and came up Sunday. I miss the import day on Saturday. I think that kinda hurt the entire shootout itself. It just didn't seem like as many people were there like last year.
Then of course it had to start raining and everyone started leaving. It just seemed like a long driver there only to stay a few hours and then leave for a long drive home.
