Everyone is really tired. I had a great time and it was fun getting beat by almost everyone.
Best there was a 14.3 @ 98. untuned, tire spinning crazyness.
A few AWD's broke too, so, so sad.

12.000 @ 115. Dweet do you have an egt gauge? Usually when the engine runs waaay to hot the plug tips will turn white. Check your air fuel ratios.

Did everyone notice at the very end who all was still running over and over again? FWD were ruling the end lol It was fun sitting in the middle watching-gives you an entire different perspective of the race. And I got to flip the switch to the tree when my Sammy took his last run for the day. :D
Today was a lot of fun...probley the best we've ever had. Definately better than being at trails!

My best was 11.69 @ 123.50. Not much of an improvement from before, but I feel alot better about things. With Tym's help, we discovered that my POS turbo's flapper arm was missing its bushing keeping it to flap open all the time which has been the problem with my car not holding boost all season.
I did however, have alot of fun this time. I was able to launch and drive the car much better and pull a couple 1.6x 60' times so I feel better about driving the car to its potential based on the way its running. It was alot of fun to take people for rides and especially to have the Bean make a pass in it. He's helped me so much the past 2 years so it was great to see him have some fun (and run down Turbomark at the end:D ).
Ironically, my 11.69 pass was with a 1.90 60':o

Quick post, ill give details later. 12.88 @ 112.82. 2 other 12.90s a handful of 13.00s, one 2.0 60' a few 2.1s, best mph 112.89. With my car it was make it or break it as far as 60' vs ETs ranging 13.5s-12.88 with 20 runs. Gunner ran a best of 13.5@109 in my car.
Wait. Street tires, my newb tune, 24psi bleeding to 21psi from 6-7k rpm.
Finally. Eat it.

don't get an a piller then... get a regular bolt on pod and attach it on top of your steering column. It's 10 times easier to see it there than above everything else and to the left

you can put a turbo timer anywhere... glove box, center console... etc. An egt gauge is possibly the most important gauge you have and having it in the same line of site as other gauges you'll be using during a race (tach) is vital imo. You dont really need to look at your avcr all that regularly either.

First: I bow to mark's non nitrous superiority. He is the proud winner of $25 bucks since I was not able to give him a run.
I had a bad day.
Stupid mistake 1: I sprayed my first pass without making sure everything was running properly. Very dumb. It broke up in every gear and I managed a 12.6, with a 50 shot mind you. I followed it up with a 12.7 sprayed run. I was pissed. I followed that up with a 12.4 non sprayed run. I still havent figured out what was wrong with that.
Stupid mistake 2: After changing my plugs, I didnt make sure my studdering was fixed... and sprayed anyway. In third gear I blew the head gasket shortly after the shift. Pulling the plugs revealed a destroyed cyl 3 plug and coolant in 4.
The VP, being the most amazing man alive, waited behind for AAA to fetch my POFS.
This week ill be changing all the gaskets in hopes of curing my oil leak as well.
What race season would be complete without some track breakage?

Yeah, I hope all that I hurt was the headgasket, but those little sparkpluggers like to take out valves on occasion. Hopefully it was melted enough before it passed through there so that it didn't do any damage.

I'll bet you $100 right now that if we take my BR580 off my car and bolt it onto yours, that you won't trap the 115 you are now. Big setups are tough. Sometimes you have to take 1 step backwards to go 2 steps forward.
turbomark
09-14-2004, 07:32 PM
I dont want to take a big step. I'd lean more towards a 20g or fp green or something kinda middle of the road. I just want to be able to hold my 25 psi to redline... i have no need to run 30-35 psi on my car and no desire to upgrade everything else in my fuel system to do so.
Mike C
09-14-2004, 07:42 PM
My point is: the differences from here on out for you are going to get subtle for the amount of money you will start spending. Look at Luong's setup for example. He's got a 20g, external, VPC, running 25-27PSI and trapping 117-118 on his best passes. His traps are kind of maxed out unless he does some headwork or at least gets some cams.
It just gets harder and harder as the ET starts to get around or under 12.0 and the MPH to go with it.

Me 12.7@112 with a 2.0 60ft on drag radials dont understand how i couldnt get better 60ft times. The best was a 1.9. Not happy with it at all. So therefore i now have an excuse to drop 2-3 grand on suspension upgrades and a better clutch, since it was slipping, to get me where i want to be.:D

I went several 12.8's and a few 12.9s all in the 110mph range.
There was one pass that said I went 12.4@114 but I think it was bogus. It said I had a 1.89 60ft. which is possible because I've cut several in the mid 1.9s before. However, it's not consistent with what the car ran the rest of the day. I'm not sure if I want to claim that or not.
