View Full Version : service engine soon...
yeah that lovely light is on and I want to figure out a way to turn it off, but I only have the one O2 sensor any suggestions. the reason it is on (According to Passen and also another shop's diagnostics machines) is because I have headers, a hi-flow cat, and cat back exhaust. Jegs doesn't think that it should be on with from the hi-flow cat. But this is what i'm told. and since i'm trying to sell my car, that lovely light is going to look bad and be hard to explain. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Sometimes, installing a high flow cat will trigger a CEL. You said you only have one O2 sensor...does that mean that the rear O2 isn't hooked up? If so, then the light will always be on. There is a mod that you can do to get rid of that. It involves hooking a resistor to the rear O2 sensor wires. I don't have a link to that mod though.

i think curcillo an make them..for a small convience fee probably..its fairly simple in design from what i understand...they are like 60 bucks from summit for the obdII fox bodies
I was told from the guy at jegs that I only have one o2 sensor because i'm not a turbo model. I was asking him about that thing that "lies" to the o2 sensor and he said that it wouldn't work on my car because it only has one

I had the same problem and the rear o2 never went off. my light was on because the EGR was reading wrong because the hi-flow header. I work for a dealership and reset my computer back to factory zero and for two months now no light, I was told the EGR was not reading the back pressure from the manifold since the header did not cause any back pressure
so then if i go to a dealership then they can set mine back to zero? and the light will turn off? How much does that cost and can any dealership do it or do I have to go to Dennis or Ricart?

any crysler dealer should be able to help out to even if its an Eclipse because they have the info for Talons. My dealership charges 79.95 plus tax for any diagnostic work, and I talked to one of the guys and the said they should be able to do it for anybody

autozone will pull that code for you for free and erase the check engine light..just have them do it and spend the 80 bucks on a hooker
thank you guys for the help, i'll go and try that autozone thing first :thumb
hmm... well i had autozone reset it. I was thrilled for two days and now i'm disappointed again that light came back on. so if i take it to the dealership will they do the same thing or something different. Luckily it was off when somebody came over for a test drive :p any other ideas?

what did they tell you the code was dude.... that will pretty much sum up what you have to do to fix it.
if it is the emissions CEL from your header you need to get a translator or just deal with it.
Case closed.

Autozone will just clear out the code while the dealership should be able to take it back to zero. As in the car just rolled off the assembly line and will think that is the way the car sould be. Now if they get into and see it is not the EGR then I don't know anything else
