Few questions about AWD vs FWD transmissions
I'm looking at the 4g63 engine from japan for $1800 that only has about 40000 miles, but it only comes with AWD and I have a FWD tranny. I just wanted to know if I can interchange the AWD and FWD blocks and use the FWD tranny on an AWD block?
If I can't, anyone know where I can get an AWD suspension and has anyone ever converted an FWD to an AWD (successfully)?
:booty
has anyone ever used the Busher racing stage 2 block and head?

$1800 for a JDM motor is a rip off. Ask Ken about his JDM that failed.
Your MUCH better off to find a motor seperate and just find a tranny some place.
For $1800 you could find yourself another whole car.
As far as the blocks, FWD and AWD are the same, youde only need to switch the starter plates (well thats for a 2G, im sure 1Gs are the same on this aspect).

What a rip. I even paid less for my JDM 40k miles ( :rolleyes ) motor.
Do not do it. Ever
Get a junk yard block, or one from someone parting their car. DO NOT GET A JDM YO motor.
You are just falling for the type R marketing scheme tha sucks honda boys in. Its from japan, it must be better.
How am I sure? Cause I played that game.

fwd block = awd block.
All the same.

Don't waste a singal dollar on a JDM block. Any 4G63 6-bolt from an American junkyard will be just as good.
There is no difference between the turbocharged engines in the AWD and FWD cars. Exactly the same. They are called 4G63 engines. However, 2nd generation FWD Non-turbo cars come with an entirely different engine which is called a 420A engine and is the same block used in Dodge Neons.

It's the flywheels that will be different ;)

try again...
The honda crowd went the JDM motor route because of availability. You were hard pressed to find a nice swappable b18b motor in a junk yard unless someone had just totalled thier Integra GSR in the mid/late 90's. I think it is still easier and advantageous to get a JDM motor right now, even with the slight influx of b16a's with the 99-00 Si. As far as the JDM type R b18c5, you are looking at a great realiable bolt-in 200hp vs the 160/180 hp of the other motors.

You misinterpreted. And I could just walk down the hall and explain but im sleepy.
I know that there is a legitimate perfromace gain from JDM honda motors but lets look at 90% of the "JDM" "Type R" crap on the market, no performace gain.... just a marketing illusion to make you think youre getting value. Its like putting limited on a multi thousand unit production car.
The marketing schemes responsible for bastardizing the JDM adjective are the same ones making him (and me) believe that the JDM 4g63 motor is somehow better. Its not, its the same motor.
