View Full Version : studdered acceleration
:( I was wondering if anyone with the like of a 98 talon/ eclipse has ever experienced a studdered acceleration. If so, I need to know how to fix it, or if you have any suggstions on how to make this problem go away.
P.s. Tried fuel injector cleaner, and new air filter. No change.

Could be plugs and wires if youve never changed them.

I'm no expert, but I'd begin by checking and/or change the spark plugs and wires first. Then I'd probably move on to check the coil pack (resistance check). If those are OK or above parts have been changed, it could even be a plugged up fuel filter. If that's OK, then there might a vacuum leak or something. Lastly, check the engine compression.
Does the car just feel "sluggish" or does it actually feel "jerky"--hesitation. If it's jerky, it might be ignition misfiring, which is typically caused from bad plugs (or plug gap) or spark plug wires.
