i have a 2g gsx. and i get the code "insufficent coolant temperature for closed loop fuel control" does anyone know what that means. my temp guage stays at midway all the time.

check the electrical connection to your coolant temperature probe. You probably just need to replace the temperature sensor. I think the probe is in the thermostat housing area. I think there are like 2 different temperature sensor probes in there.

Another idea: maybe there is not enough coolant? Maybe something is keeping coolant from touching the probe? The probe can't get a temperature reading if it is in the air and not touching the coolant.
